WORK BEGINS New Portugal Renovation Project.

Time to start the new renovation. Lots and lots going on as we start the process of removing walls and floors.
Also while this is going on we finishes the poly tunnel floor and clear areas at The Quinta. Step by step we tick of jobs that need doing, bring life back to our Portuguese farm.

So glad you went with the gravel. Wood chips move too much any draft or wind in there would the chips going everywhere. Tunnel looks really good. Oh so exciting projects starting to happen. I just love it. It will make a big difference when you get hour workshop done. That little trailer you bought was such a good idea, I would say money well spent. Your dogs are so cute. Good start on the house. It's going to be so lovely. Always happy to see things like the old floor tiles saved and repurposed. The ceiling fixture/chandelier with the pink globes is really beautiful. Will you reuse it? A chipper is absolutely wonderful if you have a lot of regular pruning and cleanup to do and are going to use it to make your own mulch, for around trees and beds and such. But if not then you're right that it wouldn't justify itself. We have snow on the ground here and I'm all bundled up in layers with a hot drink, so it makes me smile to see you sweating in the lovely warmth and sunshine 🌞. Take care. 🥰♥️

Absolutely love seeing efforts coming to fruition. I’ve shoveled gravel and it’s back breaking work. Interesting to see the skip so far away from the property. Hope there weren’t any fly tippers dumping their own stuff in it ? Was looking at that bathroom and the shower cubicle looked tiny. It wasn’t even tiled and fitted out and looked you couldn’t shower a cat 😂. Can’t wait to how that project finishes but already know it will be amazing. Keep the vids coming. Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys,did you try the wood mill for wood chips, Linda maybe you could drive the lawn mower to go to the poly tunnel and maybe put a shade cloth for over the poly tunnel or it's getting much to Hot and drink water and eat more salt, good work guys looks beautiful 😍. wood chips are also handy to keep the ground moisture in between of your plants.

You might want to build a couple of tumbling composters. One to feed with organic matter while the other is composting. Tumbling is a lot easier than turning the compost piles over manually.

I’m sure if we look hard enough, we’ll find some of those machines for daily rental, not near us though, as we’re on the hills! For now, we’re just going to keep the branches for the base of the raised vegetables beds and burn the rest, maybe just keep the thicker wood for fire, let it dry and use it in a couple of years.

Shavings that are used in horse stalls come in packaged bags like bales of hay .. if any feed stores are around it might be possible to buy that .. for the future as I see you chose gravel!!! Hard work!!!

If your doing plantings in the poly tunnel won't some of the dirt fall on the floor? How will you clean that up with gravel or even chips? Do you have to put something on the floor, can't the plastic sheet do? It would make it easy to sweep any dirt that falls while planting up. Oops I typed the above while watching the video. I now see that you have put the gravel down. Well I'm sure you know best. Thanks for sharing. I do like all of your videos.

I look foward to see your projects progressing, love how you do your job. There are cheap wood chippers at Leroy Merlin for about 174€ or at Worten for about € 143. If you're not using it often these are, IMO, good choices.

The problem with the cheap chippers is that they are good for twigs, but not so good for branches. 👍🏻

I wouldn't be growing lettuce in that tunnel if its 40c now, lettuce grow best at about 20c. which is was today in Almancil.
