I used to go without kneepads even though the Snickers trousers my work provides has a slot built right in for them. I was in the boot one day before going into a job where I knew I'd be crawling through a roofspace and saw my kneepads poking out (just the really cheap foam knee pads) so I slid them in. I could barely feel them and the difference was unbelievable, I was on my knees for most of the day crawling over joists and I had zero pain at the end of the day. Having them slotted into the trousers was massively more comfortable than having them strapped on. We've only got one body, we need to take care of it and it's good to see companies taking the hassle out of it by building protection in.

Here in Australia the Hard Yakka Legends are a great pant. I bought a few pairs of the light weight material for hot weather and even they lasted through a few years of hard wear! They have a removable knee pad that curves around the front of your knee. They slide in from the bottom and are secured by velcro that covers 3/4 of the bottom so debris can still fall out most of the time. Great video on the importance of taking care of yourself!

I've been using kneepad pants for the last 15ish years. I started with the heavier fabric skillers pants which were long lasting and hot in summer. After those, i used (and still do) the bjornklader jubilee pants which had a better design and were almost as heavy duty and hot in summer so i got shorts versions also which i were not as good just because there was no kneepads. After that, i got snickers 3211 pants which are super breathable to the point where i no longer needed shorts in summer. Those did not last quite as long as the other thicker pants, but they still do work well after about 5 years and counting. I just started wearing the newer generation of snickers pants and they seem to be the highest quality pants I have found so far. The d30 kneepads are very good as well.
@markuslappalainen68473 жыл бұрын
I have used snickers trousers for 24 years. Tried others blåkläder and few other brands but they are not thinking all things. Snickers kneepads can be height adjusted and have ventilation, pockets are bigger than blåkläder where hand with gloves are too big, textile pouches are easily cleaned when turned upside down, pockets can be tucked inside if not used, kneepads are covered so that saw dust cannot get in, pocket departments are just enough for me, utility knife, hammerloop, knipex pliers, inkpen and pencils, hultafors tape, hultafors folding square, phone and additional belt pouches for specific jobs. They last so long that you need to buy new because fashion changes.

These look great. I've been through my share of PPE items the last 35 years and still find it hard to beat Duluth fire hose 11oz. cargos. Even the *optional hammer hook* attachment for those times you don't have to *carry those heavy tool bags* around. *removable/replaceable* thin knee pads is a hard thing to bypass and may *dry faster* after washing as well...thanks again

Great video. I wish that carpenter pants didn't have the slash type pocket but more of a traditional u shape. Whenever I hook my tape on it and the dumb thing always pops off when I'm walking around the site. Very irritating. Or as you say in the video a clip even if it is like a cloth one.

I've been wearing built in knee pads for 15 years now. The silicone wash in soft knees with carharrts. Used to be a great combo, but Carharrt has gone hipster fit, and now when I kneel a lot my pants fall down (yeah I'm the same). So carharrt has basically abandoned carpenters. I'd love to see you cover more workpants, but with attention to whether bending a lot moves them out of position. Pockets and hammer loop matter too. I won't buy a pant with a hammer loop on the right. I don't usually wear a belt anymore, I need a knife, a tape, a hammer, and pencils. And they all need to be at the side for bending over. Which obviously makes it tougher to keep the wasteband in the right position. And I love overalls, but not in Virginia most of the year.
@smellysam7 жыл бұрын
In the oil/machine/ship world I recommend Snickers pads.It's not uncommon to destroy two overalls in a day (and most of the clothing under it), so buying nice clothes is not a good idea.The Snickers are more flexible than the standard ones we get given for free and are not damaged by heavy fuel.I wear them everyday!

I find that some double knee pants are not low enough for my legs. I end up kneeling on the tip of the knee pad and have to constantly pull my pant leg down. And I certainly understand what you mean about the knee pads twisting which can be a real pain at times. Very informative info as I have never tried either of these types of pants and will check into them. Thanks.
