I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

VERY IMPORTANT: The guy in the video puts the knife down into the sharpener and pauses then pulls the knife back. DON'T PAUSE! The pause will wear a notch at the end of the blade. This is actually visible if you pause the video at about 3:55 . You can see the blade near the handle is getting ground away.

You forgot to tell us when sharpening a knife to stop in the middle of the belt and release the trigger. If you don't stop the knife to the center of the belt you will damage the point of the belt

I bought this a few weeks ago and I love the speed and sharpness of the knives. I do agree with Gunslinger that the outdoor knife guide needs to be more supportive all the way through the pull. Smaller, cheaper knives have a tendancy to become rounded.

Those of you who are having the round tip problem are doing it wrong. You haven't taken the time to watch the youtube videos that are available, because they cover this problem very clearly. Go to KZbin and in the search box type -- work sharp knife & tool sharpener - doug holser This guy knows how to operate the machine and explains it very well. If you just click on his name, listed under the title of the video, it will take you to his channel. He has about 16 - 18 tutorials about all types of sharpening situations using this machine. The videos are a little amateurish, and the guy is constantly consulting his notes about what to do next, but you get the information. Don't complain about the machine until you learn how to use it. I've never had results like I get with this machine.

I just got mine in yesterday. Today I tried it out on a cheap pocket knife first. It worked great! I started on all of my knives, my favorite pocket Kershaw, my wife's pocket Smith&Wesson,my used the most kitchen knife, and my survival blade. Everyone turned out great! I also sharpened my two machetes. One a cheap one, and the other from WW2. Each and everyone is sharp enough to shave the hair off your arm now. If people are having problems with their Work Sharp, maybe they don't know what they are doing. Best knife sharpener I have ever used, and will continue to use in the future!
@bammbamm129 жыл бұрын
This is something they never tell you. The belt is spinning counterclockwise. If I'm using the knife sharpener, and put the knife in the right slot, the belt is approaching the blade from behind. But when I put it on the left side, the belt is hitting it head on. Is this the right way to sharpen?

I just got a new Work Sharp WSKTS, and it does work. I do have one issue with it though. The sharpening guide for outdoor knives doesn't support the blade for the last 1/2" of travel. This makes it difficult to sharpen the tip of the blade at the same angle as the rest of the blade and seems to result in rounding it off a bit. You guys need to offer a guide for outdoor knives that is similar to the kitchen knife guide!
@RogerF3 жыл бұрын
This video is doing it wrong! He is pulling the blades through way too fast. On top of that, he’s not stoping the tip of the blade in the middle of the belt. If you pull the tip all the way out like he is, you will round off your tip. Horrible video.

If it over heats the edge then every single knife you buy has over heated edges. I don't know of a single knife producer that doesn't grind the edge at high speed. It doesn't remove too much metal if you choose the correct belt! Unless you are sharpening cheaper steels like AUS 6 it takes awhile for significant amounts of metal to be removed. If anything I find it difficult to remove metal on higher end stainless like N690 or Elmax or even tool steel like M4 at high rc.

Hope this helps!

That’s a great question. As long as you’re using the correct technique you will not cut into the guide. Let the sharpener do the work for you. Don’t apply any pressure when you’re making your passes. If you do apply to much pressure you can cut into the guide
@DAREXLLC13 жыл бұрын
@coldvermonter Great question coldvermonter. The answer is yes, this is sharpening the blade using a down and upside. However, our extensive research shows that this will not affect the sharpness factor. You gotta practice with it first. When I got mine, I used cheap knives that I didn’t care about first. Also do not use the 80 grit to sharpen anything besides axes and edging shovels lol it’s a good sharper, you just need to understand it takes wayyyy less time with this system. this seems to be the new practice in business today. You buy a product A when it comes out to find out later that it is really a piece of crap and if you only have Product B, why then all will be well. I find that rather duplicitous. The other thing I love is to sell someone a product and then charge them to learn how to use the thing. If the tool was 2nd rate to begin with, and the makers knew it, why didn't they put out the B product instead of getting everyone to buy the product A and then, "Why lo and behold!!! This is a much better version than we have been selling to the public. We need to get this to them right away. Uh...kick the cost up $75 and well sell it as something fancy."
