Apparently there is no sense of history used than. because the Dutch flag used by the Dutch V.O.C. at the time was not 'Red' but 'Orange' White Blue. And that, despite the more outstanding qualities, is the reason why this orange white blue will never return as the official national flag of the Netherlands in the future. unfortunately!

@@MAGNA_FRISIA Well, as I said 'It's a coincidence that Our and Netherlands flags look very similar' cause the flag that happened to be flying at that time was the red white blue variation, which happened to be the closest variation to what the Indonesians had chosen at the time. That wasn't us looking at the Dutch flag and saying "hey that's a nice design, let's take the blue out and make it our own" We've already decided that we want red and white for our flag. And since that flag variation just happened to be flying at the time we took a chance and "modified it a bit" But yeah, if the Dutch back then raised the orange, white, blue variation at the time it would be quite the challenge to replace it with ours.

I'd say that the Dutch and Luxembourg flags are very similar, but certainly not the same. The shade of blue is vastly different. One is a rather deep/dark blue (like the ocean) and the other is a light shade of blue (like the sky).

I guess drew didn't know that to save money and wanting to use the Indonesian flag. Some small indonesian villages town halls just take their old dutch flag and cut out blue part before haging the flag. This was done temporarily before the indonesian flag was created in large amount and was able to be shipped to small villages and schools Fun fact: schools in indonesia have to have the indonesian flag ready for events like ("upacara") which must be done once per semester or ("17th" / "tujuh belas agustusan") the indonesian celebration for their proclamation of independence from the japanese.
