You don't want to do so much work that the amount of work could interfere with the amount of work that you could still do.
In the Orwellian tale Animal Farm, Boxer learns this lesson throughout the book. Always trying to take on more than he should, never able to rest and reset.
A classic book for all ages, Animal Farm, can be found on Dr. Peterson's recommended reading list and additionally, found here: amzn.to/2zgfNl8 should you choose to use this link, you will be directly supporting this channel and additional content. We thank you for your continued support.

I feel guilty when I don't check off everything from my list at the end of the day. It's very difficult for me to allow myself to rest if I still have things to do because I'll feel extremely guilty. But I'll take your advice because this tends to leave me exhausted having to drag myself to it. this video was timely♥️

I can relate, although for me it’s anxiousness and not guilt. Looking into what’s going on for me, it’s the feeling of being inadequate and therefore an imposter, that drives me to tick those tasks off, but also take on more at the exact same time. An impossible cycle, as relaxation feels unproductive, but is in reality, one of the most productive things. Thought it might be helpful to someone if I were to share this… For you scenario, can I suggest relaxation or 6 hrs off (as an example) makes your list and becomes the #1 priority, so success is reframed? Best of luck with it and all you do. Cheers!

My dad was a workaholic, though he would take us as kids to a little piece of land he owned on his days off, he would simply take our quad off the truck and work on his little ranch. Although I am grateful that nothing absolutely nothing was ever missing from our home. I wish my dad would have simply relaxed a bit and chatted with us, played soccer with us or would spend time interested in mine and brothers hobbies.

I LOVE THAT you've changed your views on God. Accepted him into your heart ❤. Jordon it is and has made you and your work so much more fulfilling. God bless you and your family. From one workaholic to another until you finally receive the holy spirit THEN that's when it all changes for the better! Praise the Lord. Remember man made the wrist watch for control. Time is an illusion. We're on his time not ours. Embracing knowledge is great but embracing the wisdom that comes with years of experience is completely different and wonderful in so many godly ways. A shame that society today is so godless.

Momentum makes it easier and more comfortable to keep on working. When you stop momentum is lost and you have to get back into the work/study groove. Students will notice this at the start of every academic year. You just have to learn to look after yourself in your daily routine.

I had an Uber driver from Ethiopia once who was listening to Jordan Peterson in his vehicle. We got to talking about the controversy surrounding Jordan Peterson in North America. The guy didn't understand why there was controversy. "For what? What did he say that is bad?" His eventual assessment was that a lot of people are babies who are fearful of anybody who preaches responsibility. Pretty spot on

I'd say the biblical message is not 'pragmatically you have to pace yourself', but rather 'God wants you to enjoy your life beyond what pleasure you find in labor' because 'you don't need to live in *excessive* fear that you will starve, because God fundamentally cares about the welfare of his creation'. 'Be diligent, and then take some time off to appreciate what has been given to you.'

On Saturday I rest . Why ? Initially because I experience God (not fully because I am very imperfect) and I wanted to Honor The Creator by following His example . But I found much to my surprise that setting a day aside when I refuse to work for any reason gives me a psychological regeneration that allows my body to actually rest without being badgered by guilt because I am not working ! This in turn raises my awareness of the value of the work I have achieved for the week and also the beauty of all of creation INCLUDING the awesome beauty and potential of my fellow human beings . As a longer after affect I have also noted my efficiency and ingenuity has been rising at an expedient rate much higher than if I worked seven days a week . Don't get so caught up in creating that you forget to appreciate the creation . Have an amazing Life .

Work and workerholics aside… at another level Is the numbers associated with the notion of resting on the 7th. The 7th being a point of jubilee and a celebration. But a celebration of what exactly? 6/7= 0.85, a fraction as close as can be derived from a base of 7. 7/6, it’s inversion, is 1.16. As on Earth and it is in heaven… for this we must seek guidance from the wisest of all prophets, Ezekiel.
