The first stage of my workbench build is to build the top. I select the timber, cut the dogholes and glue it all together. And I have a trouser malfunction...

Good to see you again, Steve. Always love seeing a workbench come together - and from a fellow Brit! I trust you're keeping well. All the best.

Seriously envious of that Festool domino machine. I'll be stuck with my cheap and cheerful biscuit jointer :( Looks good so far Steve, looking forward to seeing how it progresses!

I've got exactly the same morticer as yours. Great bit of kit.

Yes it is. The stand it came with is rubbish, but the mortiser itself is excellent.

Hi Steve. Long time since we spoke. Re the imperfections and unwanted doghole why not get a cheap inlay set and hide them with a patch? Great video. Looking forward to more.

Steve looks to be a great build. I see you have a mix of both square and round dog holes. Is this ever a problem picking the wrong dog to use? Will the round dog working in the square hole if it is same size? I hope it is not too dumb of a question. I'm looking forward to the rest of your builds. Thanks!

Yes they do. I no longer have my superb long-series Forstner bits, so it is easier for me to cut square dogholes accurately and cleanly than with my rather mediocre short Forstners. Plus, square ones are what I am used to.
