Sort of working off Tip 03, you can also center the anchor point to a layer (works with text and shapes) with control + alt + home or command + option + home, also center to comp (based on the anchor point) with control + home or command + home. It has been a life saver.

Haha, apparently I'm the only one that doesn't know these two! I'll credit you all in the next one.

And I don't know how I didn't know command+home. I feel like I remember seeing that forever ago, but never learning it. Oh well. Thanks guys!

The UI update on the shy layers is actually a great detail. Hav not yet updated due to some running projects, but looking forward to :P

Agreed. I didn't have transition issues, but I have my presets and scripts saved in dropbox and I symlink them back in. It carried over almost every setting though, including workspaces and render settings. I think it did in CC 2017 but I can't remember. If you upgrade, remember to do it custom so you can tell it to not remove previous versions just in case!

Center Anchor Point ( Ctrl + Alt + Home ) & ( Ctrl + Space + Home ) to center layer in the view panel

Great shortcuts. Just when I think I know them all, someone comes at me with more. I guess I could go read the docs again to see what they've added since I last looked-around AE7, haha! I'll add this to my list for 07, thanks! Anyone reading this on a Mac with spotlight, hold spacebar briefly before hitting command + home to do the second one so you don't pull up spotlight.

Apparently, you only need Cmd+home as someone else told me. I don't know how I never knew that one. Oh well. I'll have lots of people to credit on the next one apparently. Sorry man, you'll have to share the praise, haha.

Fit to view 😍

Yeah, I loved that one too. Honestly I don't work in that size usually-I like to keep it in even increments so weird things don't happen with scaling in the viewer. I tend to keep it at 50%, but for Workbench tutorials, it's perfect to prep everything to show you guys.

Ay bro id really like to see ur take on a few diff color grading styles. Diff looks you. Or do u do mostly animation stuff only?
@Workbenchtv7 жыл бұрын
I mean I own a Raven and I shoot too, so I'm familiar with grading, but I don't know that I'd say I'm an expert at it. I feel like there's probably better people on KZbin, though admittedly I haven't seen a lot of good ones. This dude, Juan Melara (juanmelara.com.au) was excellent, I felt like I learned a lot from him, but he kind of fell off the map. There's still great stuff there though. Anyway, I don't have anything set up for that with Workbench, but perhaps I can find a way. The problem is that since this isn't my full time job, I can't really branch out as much, but maybe I can find a way to fit it into other tutorials or something. Let me think about that one. :)

Workbench yea exactly, there is very few actual good color grading videos out there tbh. I am a color grading fanatic I always like to see someone else's techniques. (If its something diff and new to me). So that would be cool to see if u have sum diff ways to grade. But even if not , still would be cool to see ur take on sum diff schemes and looks. Thx joe

Love the quick tips, Joe. Can you do a tutorial on utilizing the new expression links for path vertices? Check out this sheet for a reference on all the new expression properties and parameters for Path: expressions.aenhancers.com/path-property.html
@Workbenchtv7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I actually just came up with an idea for that about 20 minutes ago. I have to figure out a good way to use it. Hmm, actually I just thought of an interesting way. I've also got a sponsored video coming up that I'm trying to figure out something for it, and that actually might be another place I can use that but in a different way. Thanks for the comment, that jump started my idea! I appreciate it. Look for those in the next few weeks.
