KFC are probably one of the world's worst fast food companies. Why? Arrogance pure and simple. KFC are one of those type of companies that you really cannot tell them anything because they are always right, you are always wrong. They have an incredibly high turnover of staff. Our local KFC has a drive-thru as well as a walk in restaurant. But the intercom at the Drive-thru for placing your order is quite frankly not fit for purpose. It's old, has dodgy wiring and crackles so much so that the poor member of staff inside can't really make out what the customer is saying and so without wanting to appear rude ends up screwing up the orders through no real fault of their own. No doubt angry customers will complain and the company will then eventually end up sacking the poor individual concerned. A quite frankly diabolical company, which I for one can quite honestly do without.

I worked at a local KFC about 20 years ago and at that time, that specific one didn't have a lot of rules on what we could eat while working. Most of us snacked all day. But we also didn't get full lunches. We'd try to eat in about 20 minutes and get back to work. We would create our own mixes of things out of whatever supplies we had. This is when KFC first did the Twisters. We would deep fry the tortillas and make our own little taco salads and stuff. We never rung out our on duty food orders.

Hah..man. Two of our locations got closed down. One twice, and forever. I don't normally talk bad about jobs but.. no one cared. At close even the managers above my management would just be like "it don't gotta be perfect let's just go".. I'm sorry, raw chicken clinging to grates need to be actually cleaned. The floors were constantly filthy because no one wanted to actually clean, cockroaches in so many numbers I legit wanted to strip before I went inside my house because I was afraid of carrying them with me. The walk in smelled so rotten I had to hide my nose against my shirt.. no one cared. On open, they'd make those chicken sammich filets.. those things, and the fries, everything, would literally sit there ALL day until they sold.. and my ass got in trouble for standing my ground. I've worked in food business four about fourteen years and never in my life have I seen a business, at least in my location, so abhorrent. Was definitely no surprise when they closed one location even after tossing everything and deep cleaning.. it didn't change the mindset of the people there. To give some credibility to my claim, I've worked at other chicken places.. if you have a good cook with good timing skills, and an emphasis on cleaning, it's not normally an issue. Sometimes the wait does happen ... But do you really want some kid putting chicken that's soaked in lukewarm water for six hours unattended to just batch it all up and pile that sick crap onto a tray x.x I'll never eat at any of my locations again

Employers need to be more transparent and a heads up that says part of the day will be slow fast and be as patient as you can it's not always gonna be fast. Put less pressure on your employees. As a former employee, corporate encourages management to treat their employees like dirt. One Strang rule is that employees dating eachother is a fixable offense. An employee dating a manager will get both parties fired. However, they encourage managers to date eachother. They have health inspectors come in at the busiest time of the week during lunch. If the employees can't keep orders working while the auditors are inspecting everything, that person gets wrote up or fired. Also, KFC has more employees stealing money on average than any other fast food restaurant and managers usually take the opportunity to get rid of people they don't like rather than find out who did it. If you think this is only one kfc, think again. Anyone who's worked for them will have all the same complaints.

@@granjmy Honestly it’s going great, im on my 10 minute break atm but honestly dude if you’re planning to get a job at kfc i recommend that the first shift you go on try and make lots of friends, go up to people shake their hands and make lots of connections and that’ll make your job at kfc a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable, me personally i love it. Having friends at kfc is important because you’ll learn faster, kfc will also boost your confidence a lot like you just.. yeah talk to people and socialise, be nice to the customers, courteous and respectful and you’ll be fine! I recommend taking a host position if they ask you what thing one you wanna take, you choose from three, 1st being back of house, people that work in the back of the house are cooks and make stock, things like that. 2nd the middle, you make burgers and pack food, front of the house which is my current position, serving people put the front, packing orders, cleaning the foyer area sometimes, and you just do a mix of things, could be filling the freezers, chip freezers and stuff. Also don’t steal food or drinks because they will catch you and you will lose your job for it. But with that said i’ll put it all into little dot point thing lol. 1st thing, make friends. 2nd, make friends with the managers 3rd do not date your coworkers as most relationships lead in break ups and bringing sad vibes to the work place is unreasonable and unfair to your other coworkers. 4th listen to your managers, last but not least, the customer is always right unless he’s trying to scam you lol. Good luck and enjoy it because i love it here and i’m sure you will too.

@@xeviaeGaming Well, thank you so much for sharing your break with me! I'm so glad you're happy! My 1st real job, at 13 yrs old, was in a Henny Penny - like KFC, but much smaller. That was many, MANY years ago, LOL! I enjoyed working the back of house- kitchen, dish, cooking. Hated filtering the fryers, and cleaning them. At 15, the owner made me start taking orders, running the register. That was the best thing that could have happened to me. I WAS SO SCARED of people back then. Facing the public helped my come out of myself. I agree with all of your points. Do not ever steal, or shirk your responsibilities. Don't cut corners. Find something to do during slow times. Don't be another one of those people who just stands around doing nothing when the rush stops, or when there's no boss around. LEAVE your phone ALONE when you are on the clock. When the bosses discover that you are one of the very few employees they have ever had who doesn't lie, steal, or slack off, they will trust you, and relax around you. They'll treat you more as an equal, because they don't have to be on guard against you, don't have to try discern whether you're lying to them. And eventually, if some backstabbing coworker tries to get you in trouble with the boss, that boss will probably be thinking, "Hmm. That doesn't sound like the Display that I know." This job probably won't be your last- unless you're my age *smile* - so you're networking as well as earning a paycheck. Employers talk to other employers. Those are valuable contacts for the future. When jobs are scarce, YOU will be the person working steadily. Do your very best to not gossip. Listen to how people talk about those who are not around. Then watch how those same people behave when the others ARE around. Believe me- that is how they talk about YOU when you are not around. That's how you know who to trust, usually. If they talked about them, they'll talk about you, too.

As far as food waste goes, tell corporate America they can cut down on it by selling smaller portions of certain foods for reasonable prices. It may make them more money to sell a bag double the size of lettuce, for, say, 70 cents more than the small bag, but a lot of Americans who live along can't even finish the small bag before it goes bad, let alone the larger one. I have to throw out a lot of food because no matter how I plan, food goes bad before I can eat all of it, even when I buy the small option. And sometimes the small option is the right size, but too cost inefficient to purchase.
