I’ve just bought a pair of some second hand DENON DJ sc 2900 and I’m struggling to active the turn table on 1 of them, it’s just pausing the tune rather than scratching mode any help would be much appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Bos Down, if u don't mind a few questions: 1) When playing audio cd's, is the bpm shown till decimal as-well? 2)Did u face any problems playing cd;s?(skipping,slow track loading, etc? 3)Is the same wave form as with Engine analyzed tracks presented when playing cd's? 4)I'am aware that Engine has been updated, how is it now from your experience? Is the beat grid still uneditable? 5)Is the link cable included?)

Apologies for the late reply! 1, yes it does but it calculates the BPM in real time so it varies 2, NO, it has always been perfect, even with burned CDs it was always great! 3, YES but just like the BPM the wave is generated in real time so its mostly what you havel already played an few seconds forward. The new engine is great VERY stable, I have a video I need to upload but have been traveling. I will get to it ! Thank you for the kind words!

BoS Down, no worries I got myself a pair, really like'em! I ve got a couple more questions related to some Denon stuff.Probably you had Denon mixers in the past.I'am really intersted in getting myself a 2ch version of DNX 1600 a Dnx600. Is the headphone output on this mixers loud enough for mixing in lud enviroment? Is the sound of headphone output crisp and clear(Is it better then on Pio mixers)? And is the EQ frequencies cut off the same as on Pio mixers? Would be great to hear your opinion)

I have not used the 1600 BUT have rocked the 1700 and can tell you that they are SOLID!!! astonishing performance for the price! the headphone amp is definitely loud enough! it is on par with pio for sure! you will NOT be disappointed. As per the EQ i dont remember much but yes it did cut off completely if you turn it down all the way, is the curve as fast i cant remember, but what i do remember is that when i had to use it i did not notice any learning curve, it was "natural". If you are getting a DNX1600 to play in a club or for your own set, it will do the job! Cheers!

Thanx man! At the moment Iam choosing between DNX 600 and Pio 450. But since the Denon is half price of 450, I'am leaning towards Denon.I doubt the sound quality of Denon will be noticeably worse then on Pio.Fingers crossed))

If you connect both to a switch and not to the computer too, can you see both thumb drives on each unit at the same time or is it like the MDJ 1000 where the one it's drawing from has to be on USB and the others drawing the data have to be on link? You only have two it appears, so I'm not sure you can demonstrate how easy it is to select drives with more than two units.

Evening! it's very easy to swap between the two drives, they can't both show up at the same time but all you need to do is hit link and pull the drive, I will do a little demo video, I just finished editing the new engine video too :)))

Hey man, quick question, you may not know the answer but hey ho. I was thinking, in theory the hybrid midi mode should work with rekordbox DVS, right? if so, these might make for a great home setup for someone wanting features from the high end pioneer units on a tighter budget, while still having the benefit of a rekordbox library for playing out on CDJs. a used pair of sc2900s and a DJM 450 (which natively supports Rekordbox DVS and come with a license) might make a great little setup. I've seen SL boxes, serato timecode vinyls and third party mixers used with rekordbox DVS, so in theory it should be able to read the timecode and manually map the rest of the controls. the only thing you'd lose over a pioneer setup is fancier screens and waveforms, but for DVS use it doesn't matter as you can have them on the laptop (personally I leave rekordbox on browse so I only have the small, full track waveforms, so that'd be no problem for me)

Hello Sir, this is a great theory and I will actually give it a try in the next couple of days and see if it does indeed work, however I do believe the pioneers are probably using their HDI (term might be wrong here) for connection with record box and I doubt it has a tone generator like the SC2900, yet again it is just a theory, only one way to find out...stay tuned, video to follow within the next couple of days as I need to research this a little and five you guys the best possible answer answer well as the new engine integration!!

ive got a pair of these however having issues with playback, tracks always seen to be ridiculously off the bpms say theyve matched but they are not not sure if its a problem with analysing in engine but is that something youve been experiencing?

Lara Sackville No I have not had any problem with the BPM adjust, its usually max of .1 off but that i feel is normal. Please check your Firmware version i noticed that the one the units ship with is catastrophically bad lol, please try to upload a video and I will try to trouble shoot as best as i can THANK YOU!

the BD4 is absolutely worth the money if you can afford it, however if you plan on running just CDJS or turntables with the the mixer then the BD2 is amazing because you can can sample loops in the other 2 channels and get very very creative!! I have worked with both, the only thing that the 850s dont have is linking, if you dont mind lugging double thumbdrives around either will be perfect!

I found a killer deal on two SC3900's used. They will be here in a week or so. I'm wondering if I can connect each unit to a separate iPad mini to get the touch screen display & features in Engine that I would have on some other CDJs. Or, can only one iPad/PC, ect be connected all the players on the network? I've done some web searching but haven't found anything about it. I can't be the first person to think of this. Have you given it a try?

only one, and I do recommend using a laptop for larger library navigation, I keep getting loss connection to ipad, but in all honesty once you build your library and files on thumb drives, the built in screens are good enough, I found myself very rarely even using the laptop or iPad, but that entirely depends on you personal preference and set up , have fun and congratulationson your purchase, you will love them!!!!

B.O.S.Down That's a bit of a bummer, but all is good. I have a large library of vinyl to digitize and have been considering a MCX8000 for controller and mixer. Not sure yet sure what I'm gonna do but knew I had to have the SC3900s. Used them once at a club when they first came out and there really is no comparison. It is the closest thing to a digital turntable anywhere. I loved my Techincs for 10 long years and always will, but it is time to move into the digital age. Having seen more than a few PC fails ruin a set I'm not inclined to go that route. Was hoping the iPads would be possible and more reliable, but that doesn't sound like the case. Having the color coded waveform for visual cue makes a lot of sense and improves workflow. I'm sure I will figure something out . Thanks for the response. BTW; 3900's are very hard to come by these days, I thank my lucky stars that I found them.

I also spin a lot of vinyl but in todays age its hard to lug around 45lb per case ha ha ha, and thats before the crate of vinyl!!! plus most clubs now run some sort of CDJ, workflow is almost the same on all. You will absolutely love the 3900!! I got the 2900 because i do a lot of electronic music and most my new files are digital. i will still use vinyl where i can though!! i also have the Stanton 150 and will Definitely recommend too! I do have serato but it just doesn't feel right with the turntables ha ha ha, so I use MP3 with the Denon 2900 and real vinyl with the Stanton, my technics are mk1's so i parked those for sentimental value!!

After some research I think I'm going to have to go with Serato; don't really want to though. The MCX8000 is a DVS device and the SC3900s have built-in ultra low latency DVS code. In hybrid mode the SC3900s w/ the MCX8000 would give me full real time control and functionality of Serato. Without it I loose the sampling function of the MCX and am limited to the old dot matrix screen on the 3900s.
