Looks like a very clean well-built package. Very impressive. I would add a little rubber flap to smooth the water down in the main sluice.

I love - love the way those bigger size rocks stay in the trommel as long as possible. That helps break up smaller stuff. I think I’d have another wheelbarrow under the discharge end so I could roll the rocks away.

That's a real nice machine you got there. I loved seeing that drum take those larger pieces of broken bedrock with out issues. Looks like it is tuned in and dialed to work tough ground. Lots of chunky gold laying right on that bedrock once you move all that overburden. Perfect machine to do just that. Nice work. Neat to see happy kids mining and the big people were not frustrated, Proves that your machine works. Great outing with the family!

Thanks Rob, We had a good time & lots of nice warm weather. This trommel doesn't really care what you run through it for material. I have run 5" to 7" rocks through it just to see how it handled them & it didn't even slow down.

All I can say is that it's honest work, sure beats standing in line waiting for a hand out. Nothing better than a little fresh air and a little hard work to make a person feel good. Being with your kids in the great outdoors doesn't hurt either.

First of all, who is so insecure that they would give this video a thumbs down? This is an AWESOME trommel and video. And the spray bar on the outside of the barrel is a good idea too, in my experience it greatly reduces root clogs in your screen by spraying them back into the barrel to be discharged. Keep up the good work and keep those kids shoveling!

Either got to run a trommel or a shaker box and a shaker box is a little harder to keep together when they are tiny. I have always loved a trommel over a shacker deck/box.

I like your machine you did an excellent job of designing it. I feel your pain I have carried stuff up and down hill/mountains and after I got everything setup to go to work was to tired to do much ha! I built a trommel/classifier to work dry in the desert that was battery powered it worked ok but no 2 ways about it it's just a pain to work dry. No matter you're still going to need water @ some point. Also I have run drywashers for days on end I always had the feeling that I was losing gold as I have gone behind others tailing pile and recovered color. Best you all!

Great job!!! I would bend the rock discharge more so they don't get stuck there. :) Great idea for outside water system

Thanks I have done away with the discharge chute and just lengthened the drum.

That machine is professional looking as they come. I am amazed at the way it ate up the pay dirt. How long did it take you to build it and do you have a cost on the build. I am getting ready to build my own but after seeing your machine i think i am going to have to make a lot of changes on my design. Thank you for posting the video and good luck in the future.

Water looks to be running fast mate?.You ever put a tub under to see if losing any 200-300 fines? Good unit, just curious as BC hs fine flats and flower gold. Thanks for the video !
@TheJogdredge8 жыл бұрын
Billy Water speed in the sluice as you probably know depends on how steep the angle is, that will also depend on the type of gold you have. I get a lot of pickers and they pretty much drop in the first 16" of the box and get trapped under the punch plate. In a fine flour gold situation I would definitely run the box more flat and possibly add an extension to it. I have checked with a tub but don't find anything of significance, one or two specks here and there. thanks for checking out my video. Joel

Hundred thumps up. Mike Buckles. I respect or experience but I think the outer sprayer system would have no much affect when it comes to washing the mud off the potential gold since the mesh is in the way. I mean the sprinkled water wouldn't directly hit the mud to loosen it. Whatya think?
@TheJogdredge8 жыл бұрын
If you watch my videos where I show the inside of the drum while it's running the water doesn't trickle in, the water sprays through the screen from both sides and crosses at the center point several inches up from the bottom of the cylinder and washes the rocks on both sides unlike a sprayer that is inside the cylinder and spraying or trickling straight down. As stated before in the comments the spray from the outside keeps the vegetation cleaned out of the drum screen. Hope this helps answer your questions. Joel

That thing is really impressive. Probably the finest one I've seen on KZbin. Seems like a really short sluice though. You sure that's catching fine flakes?

You need to put a nugget trap in the end of the tube. Our channel kicks out 5/8" nuggets. Otherwise, it is a fine trommel and shows excellent workmanship.
