best thing to do at taco bell is to do dive. u can be anywhere in the store and great the customer. u dont even have to look your best as you would doing the front lobby, u can do just about anything while taking an order uh shhh txting hehe ya... cuz all the customer see is the box they talk into. when they pull up to the window just set it a side and smile:) one of the best things about it is your by a window most of the day. nothing better than having fresh air anytime

They don't give us order takers anymore to save on labor, but it's like, you're expected to greet the customer at the window and collect their change, ask them for sauce, read off every item when you hand it out, all the while you're taking another customer's order. Try doing that in a ONE window taco bell. I don't know how many orders I've given for free due to may lack of coordination. Let's see, not only you take the order, you also have to make the drinks, collect cash, make sure their change is correct,, get condiments of their choice, sporks and napkins, and make sure the order is correct before handing it out. All the while taking another order from another customer. Yup, it's difficult as hell.

One to take orders and collect the $$$, and the other to "assemble" (an automatic machine dispenses all the drinks without pushing a button) the drinks and present the food. I worked for Taco Bell from 1994(age 18) to 2000. I was a manager the last 4 years. I used to hate working the drive thru especially on Friday and Saturday night. When I first started working the window I would go home and dream I was working it all night. My favorite position was "steaming" which was the first step of making the food. The stream table of course has been replaced at most if not all stores.

Our Taco Bell just started using both windows and we still rarely use the first one, but when I'm on drive thru I'm handling money, taking orders, pouring drinks, watching for food mistakes, and bagging food at the same time. Sometimes I have to wash my hands, put gloves on, and hop on line to help them with bigger orders and start taking an order midway through making food. Some days I work line and some days I work register. Either way, we do a lot at once. The job is all about multitasking. I like multitasking though.

Weird what KZbin does to my recommended feed. I currently work at a Taco Bell, drive thru isn't the easiest job, I mainly work morning and day shifts and I must say in advance, my store is heavily understaffed and the staff we do have, don't do their job in the slightest, so in the mornings when its just me and one other person opening, (the manager), I'm taking orders, in the one window we have operating even though we have two, taking orders, making drinks, condiments and then the food most of the time until more people for the line show up. Rush is hectic and I'm usually just waiting on food and end up getting scolded by managers by our drive thru times being raised when I'm the one waiting on my orders. Front lobby is rarely full, drive thru is our biggest profit and there's only one other person that can run it as good as me and they've moved to strictly food/line. It's crazy how people are on drive thru and it's not an easy job if you don't have patience, good multi-tasking and coordination. I bust out a lunch rush with an average of only 3:00 to 3:30 per order if the customers don't take forever pandering about the menu, given that the people on line are paying attention. It's overwhelming to do this every day but I manage. A lot of people have like a fear of drive thru at my store but that's because the wrong people train them, even though not many can withstand customers. It's a lot of tongue biting and take it with a grain of salt moments working here but it definitely isn't worth the stress and work. I make this job look easy because it is as long as the worker is willing to put up with a lot of shit, but it will get to you at times but you just gotta let it go, no matter how crazy or ignorant a customer may be. Wish I could make a video about this to show an average day at my location, would be hell of a lot more of a fast pace and twirling around in my little windowed corner of the restaurant. What makes it worse is my store isn't corporate owned so the store owner is super cheap and managers are too, so most things are broken, including drive thru cash register so it requires a key for the past 2 months I've been working, lately the drawer has been getting stuck and takes quite the effort to pull out, imagine doing that countless times a day while doing the rest of the job. Everyone I work with is surprised I haven't just quit yet with how much there is to put up with. Alas, a lot of work goes unrecognized and drive thru workers are often underappreciated, primary example being me. I have yet to quit while I wait to enlist into the Air Force and finally make good money that's worth the effort.

They won't start you on drive the first day. You will most likely be learning on the lobby register or being the side hand helping with drive handing things out the window. While someone else would be taking the orders. You might get to wear a head set to hear the orders being made and get the drinks ready.

I’ve worked back there a few times, and it was the easiest position in the entire place, either that or taking orders in lobby. All I did was just kinda chill back, rub dishes when needed pre maid napkins, and asked people on line if they needed me to stock.

back when i worked there at the drive thru. a customer could not make up their mind or were just D**king around with me. and there was a foot peddle on the floor you would press to talk. and I took my foot off of the peddle and said " would you make up your F**king mind!" and the supervisor Susie heard me and asked " you didn't say that to the customer did you?" and I said now I had my foot off the peddle. and she was smiling when she said " Oh that's OK then! "LOL

I do the same thing at Cook out. every day. now imagine that but they're ordering 7 trays for their whole family meanwhile all our stuff comes plain so you gotta listen to every little thing they want. oh and we don't have headsets so you have to hold down a button as you're reaching across to give them their money. we also hand them they food and drinks too so you gotta make drinks at the same time. this is light weight compared to what I deal with lol

LOL my alarm clock sounded like the drive thru Alert tone. and I had forgot to turn it off. when i had a Day off the next day, and when my alarm clock went off the next morning I woke up saying" Hi,Welcome to Taco Bell May I take your order please?"

I widh i worked at that taco bell. the one i work at is 50 years old. only has 1 window. so when you are put on drive, one person makes the drinks, and triple checks the food, and hands out the food, and takes another order, and cashes out the person at the window. all at the same damn time.

once you get the register down which is pretty easy. taco type items are on the taco page burritos are on the burritos page combos are on the combo page....once you get that down it's just a matter of taking money from a previous order and taking new order at the same time. Most people are pretty slow getting their money ready, which then gives you time to take the next order.

I work at burger king and we only have one drive thru window. Seeing this video really makes me wish we had two windows. Then when I work DT, I get my own little nook where I can just take orders, cash out, then send them off lol I hate it when the customers are just sitting there staring at me through the window while we make their food.
