British politicians are the lowest paid in the Western world, even the head of a reasonably large school are paid more than the Prime Minister, leaders of small provincial towns paid more, so if you want other countries known to offer 'inducements' to politicians to pay them in your stead then also be aware they want something back for their money.

The Department of Health costed a 20% pay rise for junior doctors at £1.7 billion of taxpayers’ money. £22 billion black hole - £2 billion for junior doctors = £20 billion black hole. So let me get this right. The OBR only have access to the info provided by the Tories, just as the opposition do, and the Tories withheld info from the OBR meaning them and Labour in opposition could not view that information, but now Labour are in power they can view the information in full and have now disclosed it in full, therefore demonstrating hunt lied. That should be a prison worthy offence but because he’s a politician he gets off with a slap on the wrist Also, him moaning about above inflation pay rises is amusing. If it wasn’t for austerity and then crippling the public sector we’d not need huge rises. However that is not the case and public sector needs those rises to stop talent bleeding into the private sector Also, the pay rise for junior docs is over 2 years, but of course he leaves that bit out. What a disgraceful liar Edit: I fully agree with the guy who mentioned gross negligence in politics. Absolutely agree. Doctors and nurses are held to higher standards than the people literally running the country and it’s a disgrace to put it nicely.

Maybe... but consider that that would make it disproportionately harder for poorer people to become MPs, meaning the wealthier self-interested ones would be more likely to do the job (it's not like Rishi Sunak or Boris Johnson needed the money). The Rwanda plan was at least a plan - Labour has NONE. Now it chose to cancel a scheme that would surely have born fruit over the next few years. The whinging from RR is because - having cancelled the scheme - there are no cost-offsets and savings from not having to house these criminals breaking into Britain. Ed and Ranvir haven’t got this point. Hunt patiently explains, but Ed can’t see the point that flights to third countries WOULD indeed have taken off, and not just the odd few hundred either. Rishi was so right: give this crew power in a fit of pique, and repent at your leisure.

Hunt hid £35bn of unfunded spending from the OBR in order to get his reduction of NI rates past them at his last fiscal event. The OBR wrote to the Treasury Select Committee yesterday to say that it is going to review the forecast given at the time and complaining about lack of transparency. This borders on misconduct from Hunt. He doesn't deny Reeve's numbers, but just complains about how she might (but might not) go about cleaning up the almighty mess that he created.

@@LOVELYBENSMITH123 such an ignorant comment. Typical starting salary for a doctor was working out to be around £12 per hour. Of course they're learning their trade...most people in skilled roles never stop learning, that doesn't justify paying them peanuts. Imagine being a very clever person, that's completed a degree lasting 5 years (high costs involved) and then on-job training for another 4 years and massively antisocial hours to earn around 42k a year. But that's fine, take them for granted, have a failing NHS and massive shift to privatisation and you'll truly experience the cost of these worthless trainees. Have a look at the basic costs of medical insurance alone in the states. All of a sudden 22% will seem very reasonable.
