Note that during the period 1993 to 2023. Labour increased housing NZ stock by 17,000 but National reduced it by 2,000 to 4,000. ( National followed Thatcher UK policy).

We can't have reasonably priced houses when the cost of land is very high. The current policy setting incentivises land banking and controlling supply to the market to maintain high prices.

Fact. You can go around the world, and the price of a house on average is almost always relative to mined minerals or oil, followed by population.

Government could buy 6,000 houses from Barfoots listing. Use landlords interest deduction increase to buy these listed properties.

How is someone living in a house classed as homeLessness? They are not on the home lacking they are not homeless. HomeLessness means has no roof over your head!

There are so many relocated house sitting on lots awaiting for s new sections. The government needs to buy land and place relocatable houses . It save 6 months is creating new homes.

Relocatable houses are unlikley to meet standards without expensive upgrade

@brettsmith2868 point noted . But sell for $20 k or less . So up grade with $100 k plus say $30 k for drainage, etc. You get house for $200 k or less. Rough estimate but worth doing figures.

thts right under labour u cant rent a garage to live in 4 a discount due to healthy holmes reulation but the labour govt doesnt care if u sleep in a bus stop or in your car

The last 6 years have shown me that the less state the better. Labour failed on every single level. I really like the new govt so far. And I voted Labour last election…. But due to their behaviour and crazy ideology, I never will again.
