That's what state Governments don't want you to know. Homeless fulltime workers are skyrocketing in Florida. Because rent is completely unaffordable. Wages are just way too low for what it costs to actually live. No one seems to care.

@@T1C45 There are tons of tent cities, that's for sure. Florida is very different in different parts of the state. Some areas, unfortunately, there are a lot of racial divides. But others that's not true at all. Florida is a very diverse state on multiple levels. The one divide that is widening rapidly, is the class/ monetary divide. The middle class is getting smaller and the rich are getting richer. And the rich don't want to share their stuff.

I was a mortgage broker between 2002 and 2006, I got out because I saw what was coming because I had an economists for a father-in-law, I was fortunately in a completely different field when the crash of 2008 came. I see the same things happening now. One of the things that I do see happening that is different are these giant corporations buying up entire neighborhoods and paying astronomical prices. They are doing this to jack up the rent prices in order to rent to people coming from areas where $2500 for a studio is the normal. They are pricing families out of the market. All of this is really bad. We are heading not for another Great Recession, but for another depression and we have very little time to do anything about it. This is not about one party over another, this is the whole government’s problem and they need to do their jobs. Most of them have seen this happen before too, they’re all 100 years old so they got to see both. They want us to keep fighting amongst ourselves over our “team“ when they’re two sides of the same coin. As long as we’re fighting they keep getting to do whatever they want because we’re not paying attention. Watch for gold prices to really start to spike and for non-tangible stock prices start going down. If this happens get your money out of the stock market and put it into something tangible like gold. The reason the Gods ld prices start to go up is because that’s where the wealthy are moving their money to. Always pay attention to what the wealthy are doing, I don’t mean rich I mean actually wealthy, because they have way more information than we do. Sorry for the rant thank you if you trade this far.

We decided to have our second child after waiting 9 years to make sure we were stable. The day after we got home from the hospital from giving birth we were informed the landlord was selling our home of the last 5 years. We started looking, a one bedroom is now the same price as what we were paying from the 3 bedroom we are having to leave. The real killer is when these landlords ask for you to make 3 to 4 times the amount of the monthly rent... a studio is about $1,000 now, who makes $3,000 to $4,000 a month as a single individual... for a 3 bedroom they expect you to make around $6,000 a month. I don't know a soul who makes that a month.

In a lot of places, local building codes prohibit or limit sharing housing between unrelated individuals, which essentially eliminates co-housing as an option for individuals who are financially challenged. It's not a shortage of available spaces that is a problem. It's a lack of affordable legal alternatives to the single family living structures that society has sanctioned for acceptable dwelling spaces. There needs to be a revision of zoning and construction codes across the country, in order to solve the problem of being able to obtain affordable housing.

Others have social networks (family, friends) that allow them to survive by helping out with things like childcare. Can you get on Section 8?
@burnindownthehouse
@burnindownthehouse 2 жыл бұрын
@@Landshark2020 Nope. And that's a huge problem in many counties in Florida. My county hasn't provided Section 8 vouchers for many years. when you call, you get an automated message and it says, "we have no vouchers at this time. Please do no leave a message. No vouchers are available." And then it hangs up on you. Section 8 is money from the federal government but it is implemented by the states on a local level. Unfortunately, Florida fails its citizens badly in this program. And in the counties that do have vouchers available, there is a problem right now because apartments (mostly corporate controlled) have ways to decline the vouchers based on their income requirements. I read that this is happening in Pinellas County, which includes St. Pete, Clearwater and Largo. So the apartment complexes have found a way to get around the vouchers. They won't accept them. So either you get that unfortunate message over the phone or you do get a voucher and you get rejected for an apartment. Yeah, it's mainly a failed program in Florida overall. So I am out of luck. Florida is harsh, man. we don't have much of a social safety net here. It's every man for himself here. And I am disabled, which further complicates things for me. I never really thought I would be disabled and living out in the woods but I don't really have any options here. I've tried to think of everything. Every day I try to find a creative solution but I come to a dead end. I am worried.

So being on disability I easily qualified. Everything I hear about Florida and the housing crisis is very bad. I lived in a rental car for three months in LA, up until earlier this week. Splurged on a cheap hotel once a week, that way I wouldn't reek all the time. Although I have an apartment....I had to stay in California until my car was repaired. The insurance company played games so I was stuck. I've always had compassion for the working poor but now that I've walked in their shoes I am intimately familiar with the embarrassment and difficulty that comes with it. No access to a bathroom, the looks you get from people...the humiliation involved when asking to use a bathroom, if it was early in the morning they knew I was homeless and was treated like a burden...it was almost too much to bear at times.

I lived in a broken car with two babies when I was 19 years old, worked minimum wage at a convience store. We got a lot of beauty school students come for snacks. That motivated me to do the same, I went to cosmetology school part time. My first job as a hairdresser I soon was earning 3x minimum wage and daily tips. 30 years later my nurse clients motivated me to become a nurse, I went to college at 49 and graduated as an RN at age 53. I'm now 69 and taking classes to sell health insurance. Pay attention, the Universe provides answers but usually in subtle ways. I am a slow learner, wish I had become an RN when I was younger but no matter, so glad I didn't stay at the Circle K all these years. Move or get left behind. The cost of housing is not included in the consumer Price index CPI. Look at the price of your computer and the price of computers that are available now and you'll see that the computing power of a new computer has gone way up well the price of computers has remained constant or decrease. Which produces a decline in the consumer Price index the higher price of the new Martin conveniently sized can of soup is also in your CPI. The price of computing has dropped faster than the doubling of the price of the soup. Taking together your costs have actually gone down even if you didn't buy a computer or anything with a chip. How did they ever build a toaster without a chip is beyond comprehension. I think overall investors would be quite uncomfortable having rent included in the cost price index that might reveal proprietary intellectual property rights of confidentiality.

Famous for the most expensive hotels and Goughtiest Casinos, tenaments are the backbone and the history of the great work that they do for good people going back generations to Fred. With billions and billions in pocket they should start a group"do your best be your best" and build several thousand tenement apartments that good people could live in, making housing available for everyone else sharing an apartment with new interesting people just like the Warsaw ghetto in 1935. No doubt with HUD funding they could create each apartment for less than $2 million dollars a piece. They have no incentive to help the poor and middle class in the state. They figure, "If they can't afford it, let them move out of the state. I don't care. I still have my investments." It's very crooked, but would you expect anything different from Florida state politicians? They've always been crooked sellouts. The sad part is that people who have lived here their whole lives and are born Floridians have to leave their own homestate because of this. Very few can pay these outrageous rent increases that have happened over the past few years here. Mainly, only well off folks from out of state can afford it.

A property owner buys a condo to rent for say, $200K, paying about $600. a month mortgage, $125. a month insurance, $125. a month taxes PLUS income tax on the rent they receive, $125. a month on HOA fees plus pays water, sewer, trash, property maintenance for parking, lawn care etc (some HOA cover that).. say those costs comes to $1200 a month which is reasonable, rents for $1600 a month that's $400. a month for 'greedy' get rich profit which the landlord will pay 20% income tax on so down to $320. a month greedy profit. it will take 52 years to just break even on the original cost of the condo if rent is never raised.

Government should build affordable housing for people, just not leave it to developers, investors or speculators.

Florida used to be such a nice place to live an affordable and the salaries in the jobs don't match other places the average job still doesn't pay that great these landlords that are increasing rents $600 should be stopped dead in their tracks that's price gouging just getting greedy cuz I know they can get away with it it's not inflation its crookedness.

That why I support remote work. I was close to being homeless but remote work allow me to work anywhere. I move to Central America just so I wont be in the streets.... Governor's, politicians, and Corporate America know it's a problem and can actually solve it. But their is no money to be earn by helping them, so no point in wasting time. Greed's is the problem in this country.

I applied for a county job. Got offered the lowest salary rate despite of 10 years of experience and a degree. Nope. I won’t be able to pay my rent for the rate they are offering

Is it possible to rent a room (if you don't have children) or get a roommate? County jobs offer good health insurance, pensions (sometimes). Just a thought. I worked for companies and when I got over 40, they made up reasons to eliminate my position to get rid of people who were getting older. You will be ok, stay positive and keep fighting for more because you deserve it 🙏

@@kellynorvell5714 Thank you, i appreciate that. I was just surprised about the rate, given that everything is going up. I'm sorry you went through that. I have friends that went through the same thing. It's not easy.
