I've been doing this for over 10 years now working for the BOP and he's not lying. The hardest part of the job is just getting to work. With overtime, shift differential, holiday, and Sunday pay you can make a lot of money. Not to mention, you'll have a pension and 401k when you retire. I made $182k last year, taking inmates to medical appointments, sitting bedside with inmates at the hospital, and working extra shifts in visitation. My institution is pretty chill, we rarely have any staff assaults. In my 10 years, I've been involved in only a few use of force situations. At the end of the day, this job has been a great blessing to me and my family.

I needed to hear this I’m in NY I took the test about 7 mths ago for the County Jail and it’s a process and sometimes you get discouraged but you are right you have to be patient. The test for me comes every 4 years I took and past the test 4 years ago but got hurt right before my physical test so I had to wait another 3 almost for years and last time it took a year and 3 mths before I was called so I know it’s coming I’m just working my job and working out and when I least expect it it will come. Thank you I’ve been watching your videos and they are very informative and helpful.

Im in my 5th week in Indiana. I was previously inside for two weeks. We dont have our uniforms yet so I dress fresh but appropriate. The inmates notice so its a way to get respect at my stage. An example of this is wearing fresh shoes, like Air Max 97s and shit. At first it was" Ima get those". Now it is. "Looking fresh, color coordinated. I see you." Im glad I found this channel. I see you as a big homie. Much respect.

Hey. I like your videos. I’m in Jacksonville Florida. I’m currently going thru the hiring process in Florida. (For the State down in Union county- Lake Butler FL) When I went through my interview the recruiter told me just what you been saying. There is never gonna be a shortage of work and I will never have to be laid off. They required a lot of paperwork but I got it all submitted (it took me about a month to get everything they asked for) My recruiter said it’s being reviewed now and they will be contacting me shortly. But again I’m single and an empty nester and I’m ready to work and stack my money and finish out the next 15-20 years. Please keep the video coming they are needed.

On my third week at the academy bro for DCI and yes your videos and channels was huge info to help. I got one more week at the academy. Then I'm doing OJT but even with just the basic pay I'm making 1900 after taxes just 80 hrs and they just be find stufv to add on may check to just pay me. Working for the state is something I should have done way earlier. Once I'm off OJT I'll be expecting all that overtime for sure.

We were once co-workers, I have yet retired from the prison this year. But he is correct. But I caution you working a lot of overtime is good and bad. But if you pace yourself you can make close or over 100k. But still safety is first.

majority of the staff who work in prisons and jails, have families, spouses, & kids. You just have to find your flow and whats best for your household and make it work in your favor. i feel like im able to make most of the functions, go out to eat, travel for vacation, & do the things in life i enjoy

my base schedule is 5 eight hour shifts, with 2 days off. i average 32 hrs OT every week on top of my regular shifts so 72 hours a week

it cant hurt in a hostile situation. but they will teach you the self defense tactics they want you to use in the academy for your training. They prefer you to stick to the policy & procedure and what they teach you, but still take that course if you want

just be yourself, find your style of how you want your unit, when you dont know call the supervisor or a veteran co worker to check before you tell a inmate yes. when in doubt go by the post orders & policy and procedures you cant go wrong

the pay may be more or less, retirement may be better, you can transfer to any other federal prison, a federal prison in all 50 states & one in hawaii and puerto rico
