Working in the VFX film and TV industry

My name is Robert Rioux, also known as Blender Bob in the community. I've been working in the vfx film industry for 26 years. I've worked all over the world in many major studios, on huge Hollywood productions and on more than 60 feature films.
At Real by FAKE, we are pushing Blender to its limit with the latest technologies, like filling up a stadium with 100 000 people captured in videogrammetry.
For BCON, I want to show the world how we use Blender on feature films, TV series and commercials and why I was the best choice for us. I would also like to explain in detail our incredible custom pipeline, the challenges that we had, how we fix them or found ways around them and how we got Blender to work seamlessly with other software.

You know how 2D files work consistently? Like if you load a PNG in photoshop and load the same PNG in some other app, it will yield a similar experience. I think 3D needs that same level of consistency, especially for it to be more accessible to non-corporate users. I know it's a difficult task, but I think a universal 3D standard will be key to unlocking the 3D web. (USD? glTF? etc etc) With the advent of Web GPU, there is a lot of fresh common ground to work with, so I hope to see the Blender community there as well. Cheers to a 3D web and the future

To be honest I am quite surprised that the nested linking of the blend file data works reliably enough. Having a file which links data from a chain of 4 other files feels like a ticking time bomb in production.
