Thanks Peter. I've got a couple of young Scotties, about 18 inches high, that I'm starting to train, so this video was very welcome.

So true about taking things one step at a time. So many times when I started I would be overwhelmed when trying to bend a tree to my vision, eventually I learned that until refinement, the final result should be nothing more than a rough guide to bare in mind while you make the smaller decisions. So long as you keep doing the right things on a smaller level, the overall design will work itself out. Sometimes it means removing things you're unsure about, sometimes the tree will initially look bad after the work, but have faith in your decisions and trust the process - more often than not, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Hello Peter, I am beginning to understand what you are seeing and thinking when you first see the trees. As a novice in this new hobby of Bonsai, thank you for your thoughts, philosophy and the tutorial lessons in this natural form of art. God bless you. 🙏🙏🙏

Hi thanks for your literati styling, I thought you may take off the lower branches and use the top as the literati, using the term less is more, but you are the master, if you did that the customer may not be happy with the end result I suppose, great result never the less.

I would have kept the back branch and wired the trunk to twist it to see the shoulder, it looked like it has some nice ramification. Beautiful job Peter from coal comes diamonds again by the master.

What an improvement ! I love the literati style but find it one of the most difficult ones to achieve. I think I don't have enough experience enough with bonsai to try this style, maybe in a few years I will be ready.

Nice transformation. Just have 1 remark. I would cut of the lowest left branch as it now has 2 branches that are opossite to each other. Would certainly look better this way. Just my opinion though...

Hi, i still can not understand why you keep the first left branch (opposite the first right one, do not count the lowest back), it makes whorl on the tree that hits to eyes and makes heavy crown (and typical shape for moyogi style, not suitable for literati) - my opinion only.

Shouldn’t that back branch you cut off have been left?, and instead removed a side one? With three branches all emanating from the same spot, you are left with the “two arms” witch is not a desired look in bonsai. Is it acceptable to break this rule Under certain situations?
