Just to throw this out there, you could put anker bolts in the concrete in the middle of the upper most block on each corner. Those Conex containers were meant to be linked together which you can use to your advantage. Also, if you don't fill the blocks and it get's cold enough to freeze with any water in there it could break the blocks from ice wedging.

looking good Isaac. From what I've seen, contractors just place a couple rows of mortar under the first course of blocks on top of footing. Spraying some water from a pump bottle onto the block will help mortar stick to block. Good luck!

Issac!!!!!! QQQ for future reference when laying those blocks, use a rubber hammer, not your hand. And no you don't need to hit it hard. Just don't hit it with your hands. You need them to work on minibikes go karts and other projects.

Looks good. I always pressed the cups in with the vice. No chance of a bearing jumping out, But whatever works is good. The mustang needs an old set of slapper bars. With the shackles it would complete the 70's look!!

When "buttering" those concrete pads, it's best to wet down the pads before smearing on the mortar. Otherwise, the dry concrete sucks out water from the mortar. That premature water loss compromises the strength of the mortar.

G'day from Australia coming from someone who's done block laying in the past you done well with it for a first time though as mentioned might’ve been a good idea to backfill the insides with cement basically just a mortar mix because that will give ut extra strength as for building up under and around with sand that's a good idea but I hope you are planning on putting a retaining wall around because next floods will wash most if not all of it away have seen it happen so many times anyway keep up the good work

Hello Ike. Here is something that might work for you if you need it. If you happen to know where a Ford Granada might be sitting, get the drive shaft out of it. The best would be a drive shaft out of a 75 model. 2 door, 4 door doesn't matter. The rear and everything will fit under your Mustang. The whole front suspension will fit your Mustang. As far as the drive shaft goes, it will fit all 65 through 70 Mustang and Couger. As far as I know you can still get U joints for the Granada drive shaft.

Block work looks good Ike, think it’s a little overkill though unless you’re blocking it up all the way around, you could get away without mortaring them together just block the piers up like they do mobile homes, id try to build them so yoh can have at least one 1” thick board on top between the blocks and buildings to keep the blocks from cracking but looks good 👍🏼

It's been a long time since I worked in Masonry, but I'm concerned about setting those containers on top of pedestals. I dunno if those few cinder blocks can take the weight of a 40' container, especially with a lot of tools and equipment sitting inside, and then a roof structure up on top. And then heavy rains on top of THAT. Hopefully my worries are unfounded.

Before you spread the mud for the joint take a small amount of the mortar on the tip of the trowel and where your joint will be on the block spread a thin layer first in the black then spread your vertical joint . The problem your having is your mortar is too thick and the block is too dry so the mortar is just falling. if you apply a skim coat on the block first the mortar will stick to itself.

There are two ways to put in universal joints, with a vise or with hammer/sockets in the floor. I would bet a Ford mechanic did this one in the floor with hammer/sockets. All it takes is one needle bearing fall in cap ruin your day. I use sockets with a vise, when you get done it will move freely. Sawyer's on third street has them,Mr Sullivan, he has parts to everything. He had torque converter auto trans kit for my A500 1990 dodge ram 50. (Mitsubishi mighty max) V

@Falney
@Falney 19 күн бұрын
There is something similar to that. Big cardboard tubes/boxes without a top/bottom. You partially sink the forms and just fill them with wet mix. You leave the card to rot away. You have to use wet mix for piers like that, because dry could be left with air pockets. You shouldn't use dry for anything structural because of consistency when setting.
@TheGforcead
@TheGforcead 19 күн бұрын
Love the fastback, Ford motors are tractor motors so balanc8ng/blueprinting is a must building them, 289's you can get 1 HP per cubic inch with dual point distributor. Don't get mad at me if I mention something you already considered. Those containers will float away, be sure to screw some guide wire things in the ground and cable or chain them boxes Down, do not depend on weight to keep them in place, Hurricane winds get over 75-90 mph.those things seal pretty tight , but they will float away if not strapped down. Love your videos!
