The only thing is that with all hand pull points I've used, the lever goes back to its original position regardless of whether the points are normal or reversed. So the lever will be in the same position when not actually being used.

Ah, you've got me there. I suppose the only way to replicate that would be to 3D print the mechanism exactly like the real thing. Possibly something ill look into in the future.

@@jameswells6003 I'll get in touch with a few people I know who do 3D printing and see what we can come up with.

Exactly what I have been trying to achieve myself. Please can you do a few closeups of the mechanism?
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller4 жыл бұрын
The images of the "working prototype" is how the mechanism is laid out. I just refined the parts and how they are mounted together. Hope that helps.

hi i have been watching your videos and was wondering how you convert your lowloaders to take rails or can you buy them like that cheers
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. First thing I do is get a trailer that is as close to the real thing as possible. No one seems to do a proper low loader for moving railway stock so a bit of compromise is needed. Suitable trailers can be found from various manufacturers as the oxford diecast ones are ok but not quite right. Next, I add the required lengths of rail, packing etc as its fitted to the real thing Tensioners are fitted to keep the rails in gauge, packers, straps etc are all fitted based on prototype photos. Plastikard and brass can be uses to alter some features of the trailer such as the rear end and when necessary extra axles/length has into be added by cutting and shutting multiple models together. Hope that helps.

It looks like the gearing components are part of a kit or is it something you've made?
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. The crank was part of a casting which was part of a kit but was never designed to move. With some heavy modifications it was made operable. Everything else was scratch built.
