Tina, Joe, and Mr. P, Clearing property, and maintaining is a fulltime job. We've been clearing, and maintaining property here ever since moving in. Joe mentioned it's warm while working there. What's your temperature like now versus full on set summer. Will you need to provide some sort of sun shade for your garden boxes when summer is up full time. We will need to put our shade cloth up the beginning to mid June. The sun heats up bad here making it slightly unbearible to work in the mid part of the day. On those days we work on the property before 10AM, and return back out to work after 630PM. Y'all did a beautiful job on the garden boxes, and fence. Mr.P helping Mom plant starts, and seeds, I love it! Your video made my day!!! Enjoy what's left of the weekend. Hugs from Oklahoma❤

Remember that growing all your produce in one fenced off area is a "all your eggs in one basket" type situation. All it take is one super aggressive bull moose to breach the fence and all the wild animals get in and your entire crop is gone. With a number of smaller camps there probably wont be a "total loss" situation due to wild ( and maybe farm ) animals. I also have heard that clipping only 1 wing of the farm birds works better because then the bird is off balance on take-off and they try it a few times (and plow into the ground ) and then decide to live with it. If both are clipped then although the wing lift is greatly reduced, it is balanced and they keep trying as the feathers grow back until they succeed. And now may I say that your homestead is taking shape nicely. Thank you for sharing it.

On the garden boxes if you staple ice and water shield on the inside of the garden boxes it stops cross contamination of the pressure treated wood preservation and the soil and also prolongs longevity of the wood by not having soil against wood, and now that Joe has his tractor I see a bandsaw mill in his future. I loved and laughed at P and the dog in the kayak. I thought a couple of times the dog was going to sink the back end of the boat. Watching the 2 of them was so sweet and precious! Tina you and Joe are doing a superb job raising a great young man. When P was making and baking cookies he reminded me so much of my youngest son all those years ago. When he was in 8th grade, his teacher that taught sewing, cooking, and baking was shocked on what he could do planing, preparing a meal. She told me she had never had a student that young able to do what he was doing. Shane had been working beside of me from the time he was about 3 and by 7 or 8 he could do it himself. Thank you for bringing back these special memories! I love you guys.

The closer your garden and the prettier it is, you will always want to hang out there,( get more work done ) get your self a nice chair for inside there, a few grow bags filled with lovely flowers, Heck I love this idea I have done it my self, get a old pair of rain boots fill with dirt put some flowers inside of them to cascaid over the sides, It's so beautiful !

I’m an older lady so ignore my suggestion if it is out of line. I love your garden beds near the house. And the green house would be needed and special. I would keep it simple - it seems a lot of work to have just those garden spaces. Keep it simple. I just don’t want you to have too much work to do. Just as a senior, I believe having the raised beds closer to your cabin, makes a lot of sense. Not hard to run out and grab fresh grown items for your kitchen. Being away from that space would work, but would you run out if all of sudden you think gee, get from the garden beds.

Tina, the raised garden is perfect near the cabin. You can get herbs and veggies for dinner right there. Add some flowers and it will look so pretty. Can't wait to see you fill the pantry.Its good that Parker enjoys baking and cooking. My adult 3 sons cooks just as much as my daughter and sometimes more than my DIL's

Once you get your permanent garden you can use the raised beds for herbs. You should only clip one side of the chicken wings. This makes them not be able to fly because they are off balance.

Hi Tina, Joe and Parker. Tina I hate to say some of the questions your asking Parker I don’t think I could answer 🥴. I love how peaceful and quite it is there, all you can hear is the odd plane flying over or the rooster crowing. Love your lifestyle very much, I would have like to do something similar. Your cabin is cute and cozy and your property is gorgeous, not to say the good meals that are made there. I love Joes new tractor, so glad he got that. @@HomeFreeAlaska There is a book series called Fundamentals of Math that I bought back in the day and it proved to me who, as an artist and RIGHT BRAINED and not analytical, that I'm not stupid and I can do the harder math equations. Maybe they still have them in print and they come with the answer keys. They explain mathematical concepts so well that even someone like me who loathed the subject was able to understand and have fun.

Everything is looking good up there in good old Alaska!!! Raised beds, landscaping, and I’m loving the pantry. I’m very jealous Tina!!! I have been wanting a huge pantry like that myself. Maybe I’ll get my husband on board at some point. What I have is functioning, so hope I’m not sounding like a complaining wife. I just can see the value in having that kind of storage space for our food supply. Way to go Joe!!
