Big Ambitions continues and our warehouse finally gets some use as we stock it up with stuff and ship it out to our stores!
Granted, all that does take a while. We have to hire logistics people and purchasing managers to get it sorted out, plus we have to hire a driver to drive our van from the warehouse to the stores with all the stuff! Given the distance between our warehouse and the stores it seems a little bit excessive to use a van but there we go.
Bernard has a little trip to the docks in order to set up some shipping contracts to get good imported directly to our warehouse. I do find this quite fiddly to sort out so apologies for the faffing about, but there are lots of numbers and settings and it's not entirely intuitive, but we sort of get there in the end!
Also we upgrade our insurance levels, we have a nice walk in the park and the HQ gets some chairs!
NOTE: This is the early access version of the game.

Your bank balance is tiny, but your ambitions are big.
With a little help from your uncle, you get an apartment and your first job. But then it's up to you to achieve success and take over New York City any way you like.
Slowly build multiple small businesses, grow them into huge corporations, or carve your own unique path - the possibilities are limitless in this vast business sandbox. You've never played anything like this!
Go from a small apartment and public transport to luxury suites, fast cars and designer furniture. Put your money into investment funds and real estate. Succeed, fail, rebuild. But remember to take care of yourself, sleep and stay happy on your rise to the top.
Go from nothing to the most prominent tycoon in New York. Start a business, work smart, make it thrive and enjoy your life. How do you want to be successful? How far can you push it? How long can you make it last?
Start your own gift shop, supermarket, coffee shop, law firm, clothing store, liquor store, florist, and more. You decide what success is - whether it’s a single shop, a chain of fast-food restaurants, a huge corporation, or making millions developing websites.
Take out a loan, rent a building, design the logo, renovate the store, get stock, manage your money, hire staff, and build your infrastructure. Soon, you may have to start importing products from the harbour and distributing them through a network of warehouses.
A bigger business means managers. Hire HR Managers, Logistics Managers, and Purchasing Agents. They all need desks and computers, so you’ll need a fancy headquarters.
Need a delivery truck? Travel to a dealer and buy one. Need food? Go to a supermarket, but make sure you have a refrigerator at home. Big Ambitions is a life sim where your character has to physically interact with the world to survive and succeed.
Enter any building in New York and buy it. Go from a small apartment to a dream penthouse in midtown, a luxurious townhouse in Hell’s Kitchen, or a series of skyscrapers. Fill each with furniture that suits your style and standing. Invest your hard-earned cash in real estate to grow your empire. Take over the city piece by piece.
Spend your wealth however you wish. Buy a big SUV, a speedy sports car, or the new luxurious Mersaidi S500. Maybe risk it all at the casinos or put your money into investment funds and reap the rewards.
As you progress, you always need to ensure you get enough sleep and stay healthy and happy. Enjoy the journey, for as you grow older, you’ll discover that money can’t buy you time... or can it?

Really enjoying this, and the admin part too. Sorry if this is a bit lengthy, but if you want to get hands off the admin in less than 10 mins, here's how. Set the logistics values to double the amount of each item you can keep on your racks/shelves and set the imports to every 7 days with the values at whatever your sales were for the last 7 days plus a good buffer (double if you can afford it). Do that and your automation is complete except for bags which you can deal with later. You have plenty of warehouse storage for this already, but you might need an additional storage rack at each store (don't recall how many you have there already. If you don't have enough, you'll get a 2am message saying stuff couldn't be delivered). You'll probably also want to start each import contract on a different day to spread out the charges, and that's it, you're hands off until you add another business. When that happens just set its logistics as above (you'll have to guess the number at first) and add to the import contract, everything else stays unchanged. And now a warning to fend off potential rage later on. Someone already mentioned the van can deliver to 4 stores and the truck to 8. What they didn't mention is that you need your logistics mgr to be at 100% for that, so you'll want to train them up. However, train them using HR and do not remove them from the post to train the fast way or everything you have set up with the logistics mgr will be cleared and you'll need to set it up again. The same is true if you replace your van with the truck. You can put the truck in the second slot, bringing you to a max of 12 stores serviced without a problem, but if you think you may end up with more than 12, you'd probably be best off replacing the van right now while the logistics setup is relatively small. To that point, once this is running, the game can really snowball, I also had 2 stores and a law office when I set up my HQ/warehouse and in the same amount of time after that I setup an additional 10 retail stores and 3 more offices. Not too far beyond that point now and I'm at 19 stores, 7 offices, and 2 buildings, so the pace can really start to pick up quickly, especially when you start using the installation offices (there's a map filter for them) which I think are still out of your budget, but probably not for much longer. Just mentioning that because at this point in the game I would have thought going beyond 12 retail stores was very far off, but it turns out it really isn't. Anyway, hope this helps.

Just remember, 1 Logistics Manager per warehouse, 1 Purchasing Agent per Importer (this is also per warehouse, if you have multiple warehouses) and one Delivery Driver per Delivery Vehicle. The Freight Truck can deliver to 8 locations if your driver has at least 50% skill and your Logistics Manager has 100% skill. You have two vehicle bays in your warehouse so you can deliver to up to 16 stores from that one warehouse. I tend to buy a lot of stuff so I need heaps of Pallet storage in the warehouse, but you don't need much right now with your two stores. There are a lot of things about the HQ that are quite fussy at the moment. When it's set up right, it really makes things go much more smoothly, but you need to re-adjust things every time you open a new store. Your Logistics Manager should automatically work out how much stuff you need in each store like you pointed out, and then ship enough stock to cover each day. You don't really need a purchasing contract just to buy paper bags, just buy them from the wholesaler (not the importer) and send them to your warehouse. If you have a wider variety of stores, you can then get other purchasing agents and that will give you the opportunity to buy paper bags with other stuff. I'd also like the HR staff to take employees on automatically, although I understand why manually assigning them could be important sometimes. Consider using the Interior Designer to set up new stores and offices. Kingdom Office does offices and Kristian Bahood does Retail and Warehouse. They're a bit expensive, but using them will buy all the things you need for your store/office and set it all up for you, including doing the walls and floors. You can also download other office and retail designs from the Steam Workshop. Just remember what type of building you want to fit out (you can see the building type in maps) and you can get something really nice.

The Interior Designer would fit much better with Bernard's (and Penge's) style as an artist and not the logistics and supply chain number cruncher.

You're only ever gonna need 4 purchasing agents no matter how many warehouses you have. The way I have it setup is 1 main warehouse where everything get delivered then my own drivers are distributing the goods to the other warehouses.

@ceebugs1756 Ай бұрын
You can do it, Penge! Aim high on numbers so you have to pay less attention eg 500 to warehouse 200 to store. Just fill all the shelves and the team will do the rest!
@DonGorgen
@DonGorgen Ай бұрын
You should send more goods to the stores, ideally you'd want enough in store so that you never see any alerts about stock running out. Better to have too much than run out of something. Also, having more in the warehouse is a good thing. As you already saw sometimes stuff are in hgh demand and cost more, what will also happen later is the supplier running out of stock and be unable to deliver that item and you won't be able to restock for maybe 1-2 weeks. Also, to make things a little easier. Go to the headhunter and look at automatic replacement, turn it all on and assign the hr managers to the headhunter. That way whenever someone retire or quit the headhunter will replace them for you, and whenever someone call in sick they wil find a temp worker for you, as long as the employees are assigned to the hr manager that is assigned to the headhunter.

This installment felt more like a training game for supply chain management and less like a video game for enjoyment. Hopefully, you've got it reasonably worked out so that Bernard can focus his energies and talents elsewhere. Remember, many of us are okay with red hot admin from time to time.

Well done, that was very tricky with the numbers and stock. (I won't be able to do all that) Give yourself a pat on the back 👏 and a cup of tea or maybe a teapot worth 😂. Also I was just as shocked as you that you can't use the hotdog stand at the park 😮.

Don't panick about the HQ management, the worst is over now and you did it 99% right, eventually. From here it'll be minor adjustments to ammounts etc as your empire grows

Have you though about your purchasing agent doing 1 big order once a week so minimum amount reached, the the van shifting stock to businesses daily?
@DonGorgen
@DonGorgen Ай бұрын
Gonna need a lot more shelves to store 1 week worth of goods. For now it don't really matter, but eventually you may not be able to fit 1 week worth into just 1 warehouse. And yes, the van will distribute every day at 2am

Hi , just a thought would your minimum amount in stock not have to be how much stock it would take to fill your clothing racks on the shop floor?
@MythosHB
@MythosHB Ай бұрын
You say you don't want to fiddle around with numbers, but then you try to absoluteley minimize the stock. Why? Just have more of everything in the shop, linke enough for 3 days. You also want to at least completely fill the racks. Filling up the storage is a high expanse on one day only, after that you will purchase and deliver the small numbers again. Same for the warehourse, at least enough to completely fill a shop. And if they don't purchase one day because of minimum order, it won't matter, they will just skip that day and purchase more the next day.
@TheGeekCupboard

Now there's the problem right there, you say "but then you try to absolutely minimize the stock". Did I? That wasn't intentional! I genuinely don't know how to manage such a thing, if I did it to a minimum level that wasn't on purpose, I just don't know what I'm doing. We'll try to faff about with it again next time but I do feel like the HQ people should be sorting that stuff out for us.

This playthrough is in general very funny to watch, but ngl im getting emensly frustrated by the amount of micromanaging that's needed in the hireing processes aso.. as you mentioned give me 1 effin button to do this .. and i mean if you only have one warehouse it should show that INSTANTLY in the " unassigned option" without you needing to select it thers so many annoying things like that... i was planning on bying this, but nope....

Remember, this is in Early Access, so some things are still being developed. I understand the next big patch is going to focus on making the User Experience better. Which I agree, is very needed.

I enjoy watching this but so far I wouldn't want to play the game. it would be awesome if you could go to a bar, have some interactions, cook your own meals for additional benefits or smth. it's too deep on the managing part and it's lacking depth in the life sim part. you can only ever click an activity and then let time run on but not really get engaged
@DonGorgen
@DonGorgen Ай бұрын
That could be because it's a managing sim and not a life sim

minimum stock ammont counts stuff on the shelves as well. so ideally you want to set up higher number for the deliveries, but I think you've figured that out by the end) great episode! thanks for this series. no problem with hot admin action, you make everything fun to watch🪩
