In this one, we get to play around with some phenomenal material! We head up to do some more slabbing at Montana Rock Mom's house, where we open up one outstanding Mozambique agate and one of the prettiest Montana Agates I have ever seen! Kim sent us home with some serious treasures too! Upon returning to the shop, we get into the amazing iris agates and boulder opals she gave us! I hope you all enjoy this one, and I have a HUUUUUGE announcement coming out tomorrow that you do NOT want to miss!

Love the curiosity quotient, it's like kryptonite for us all! The purple agate is to die for. Gorgeous fortifications in the second dark one. Nice to have the Montana Rock Mom and her saw nearby and the goodies, wow! Super cool rocks all the way around, especially the boulder Opal. I have definitely lost plenty of skin to the flat lap, I like your technique combating that. Cheers!

I don't mean to sound stupid, but I am; I've LOVED rocks and crystals all my life, but I've only been criticized, called a nerd and the one that always actually hurt: weird or weirdo. So I had NO idea people actually hunted them and CUT them and how unbelievable some are on the INSIDE! I never knew there was a WHOLE rock world out there, so I'm the equivalent of a toddler just learning to walk and talk and (re!)discovering this new world. So, WHAT is a cab? And if you don't mind, WHAT is boulder opal and does it exist all over?- or is it only in strict places like crystals and gems? And I'm ALL 👂& 👁️ &🧠 if there's ANY thing else you'd like to teach or tell me!!
@yoopermann7942
@yoopermann7942 3 жыл бұрын
@@mandywilson4757 my way of answering is to describe a cab is ; you find a rock and cut it into slabs, then use a template to mark it on to the slab`s pattern you like, cut it out on a trim saw, then use a cab machine with 6 wheels of 60 grit to 1200 grit to round over the face or top of one side, some times both sides equally, then set it into a metal holder of your choice,, boy this writing out how to do this is a lot harder then showing some one how to do a thing,, sorry for the misspelled words,, yup , in a nut shell is how you make one or a million, now as far as BOULDER OPAL goes i am not sure of the description of that so you have to find some one smarter then me to describe /or show you, hope this helps get started, just research these on line as i am not 100% sure if this is correct

It's all a matter of perspective. To have a large piece of agate, even if it's not the classic expression of agate, would be amazing to me. Of course I'm interested in carving the rocks I collect, rather than trying to find the specimen pieces.

Hi. How would a person know if they found a milk agate?what are you looking for ? Are they as a good find as a regular agate ? I guess there are different kind of agates like a montana agate and so on. Could you give a tutorial on the different types of agates found in montana and how to differentiate them?Thank you .

When it's wet it's easy to spot but I'm thinking that after all the non-interesting crap I've looked at...THAT squirrely surface on that thing would catch my eye instantly even sitting there dry. That's a dry texture I can't find anywhere around Spokane.
