Working with Olympus-Pen EES-2 PART 1__disassemble and setting small marks
In this video I will show how to diassemble the camera, and also where to set
small marks so there is a referrence, when assemble the camera again. It's just
because there is no repair manual for this camera, so one have to make there own
notes when working with old cameras.
It's also important to be sure that film transport is correct aligned, that's why
I set some mark's on the small and big gear wheele's.
It's also important when taking the lens parts out, make sure to set a mark
BEFORE take out the name ring and also set a mark BEFORE unscrew the
front lens group, and count how many turn, untill it get's off the thread,
then set a mark.
I have also made a tool to unscrew the retainer nut in the buttom of the camera.

I have this camera with a broken light sensor but I am not skilled enough to fix it and my local camera repair shop says im better off buying a new one.

Lens unit off before removing leatherette. Very similar construction and operation to the Trip 35, so you will find that cameras service manual useful.

Hi mike. Have you opened up the original pen S with the f2.8 shutter. I just got one cheap as it does not wind on which leads me to believe the shutter is still cocked and the blades are stuck. I will need to open it up and do a deep clean. I've opened many shutters and removed the blades and put them back. There is little info on getting into this model. I would think the front leather needs removing and go from there. Any advice greatly received.

hi mikeno, i just ordered this same camera from ebay, still havent got it yet but supposedly the only thing wrong is the rewind lever is missing, do you know if there are any compatible with the ees-2? thanks for your time, nick

Hi Mike, I recently bought a EES 2 and it kinda got a wobbly Lens. So I dissembled the front and found the Problem. The baseplate where the aperture is screwed on kinda got loose even though it is riveted. I tried to use some glue but it didn’t do the job. Is there anything I can do about it? Because replacing the rivets seems quite tough. Thank you for the video and cheers!

Is it that plate on the body where the whole lens and shutter assembly attaches with the 4 screws from the inside? What kind of glue did you try?

I'm having the exact sane problema. Did you manage to do something? I'm also thinking about shooting anyway, the mechanics seems to work, but for sure the optics won't be the same

Cool & thanks. I have the EE-2 version. I keep it face down in a drawer to preserve the meter & keep the dust away. It definitely needs new seals & a good dose of TLC! Could you do a series on the earlier manual Pens? I have an original grey covered pen (3rd version) in very good condition & the 2.8/30 Pen-S in working condition. I also have a 3.5/28 Pen-S that needs a full overhaul. I will have a practice run on the EE-2 before attempting anything on any of my miniature manual marvels. I enjoy your videos a lot! ;-)

@@mikeno62 Hi, the Pen-S is not a reflex. I think the Pen reflexes are designated; F, Ft & so on. The original Pen & Pen-S are simple scale focusing viewfinder cameras with Copal leaf shutters. The viewfinders are really cool, much brighter than the later EE series, they have projected frame lines that appear to hover over the subject. They are the original & smallest of the Pen models. Well worth checking out if you come across one. Ciao mate.
