Amazing, my EES-2 started this issue literally 12 years ago and I've been holding on to it in hopes of a tutorial fix of very issue, now I randomly look for a tutorial today and your video shows up...... I'm mind blown. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make and share this video! I acquired a near mint EES-2 with stuck aperture blades, and was able to clean them and get the camera working again thanks to your series of videos. I will say, having gotten in and out of a Trip 35 before and watching this video on the EES-2, I decided to try going in through the lens only and found I was able to remove the aperture assembly without removing the entire shutter/meter assembly. Lastly, while watching I kept asking myself "how on earth will he remember where all the parts go?" I suspect you know cameras so well and have done these repairs so often that you just intuitively know how it goes back together. So for myself, I decided to use an ice cube tray to keep the parts organized. Anyway, thanks again!

Hello, thanks a lot for your videos I just had the motivation and courage to open my beloved ees-2, my problem is that the shutter wheel is stuck (I discovered with your video exactly which part it is..) is not really the shutter or the advance wheel but the small "gold" wheel underneath and I can not find why is it stuck.. (that part I mean is showed in 3:52) In your video you can softly touch it and move it back and fordwards, I can´t even move it a milimeter.. so that´s maybe why the "black plastic advance wheel" doesn´t move aswell and therefore you can´t press the shutter to take another picture.. please help meee I have now opened the camera and doesnt really know what else I should do :(

This is a great and super in depth tutorial, thanks so much for making this! My question is with the disassembly - was it necessary to remove the advance wheel and everything and separate the "camera" part from the body? It seemed like once you got into taking apart the lens, everything was accessible from the front. I can definitely see how it is easier once they are separated, but I have never soldered so I'm wondering if I can avoid doing that.

I have the same camera here(my dad’s), and I noticed the aperture doesn’t change when turning the ring.

My red signal is not working. What could have gone wrong?

It could be many things, but you should look at the meter or maybe the CdS photocell it could be a dead one.

The other thing to check is to make sure the little arm that “clicks” your auto aperture into place may be blocking the ability of the flag to pop up in “auto”, which is it’s purpose for when you enter manual/“flash” mode so the red flag won’t pop up and stop you from taking your picture. I’ve had to bend mine a bit so it doesn’t catch on the little triangle foot on the red flag arm, but don’t bend it too much because when you change to “Flash” or manual mode the arm still needs to block the red flag so you can fire the camera, otherwise the red flag will fly and you will not be able to fire your shutter. Also, make sure the electric cables stay free of any of the little arms and things on the back/side of the lens/shutter/etc. the can cause “sticky aperture” and the improper function of your red flag 🚩
