I have the same saw and I love it! Few things. 1. Chaps and helmet. (I helmet saved a guys face I know that the saw kicked back it saved his face) 2. Never use a saw alone. 3. Use a chalk line to mark your hinge and felling cut. And practice on small trees. When you're learning how to fell. 4. Keep the saw steady don't move back and fourth. 5. Always remove your wedge (tree can kick back on you really fast before you can react. 6. When cutting don't let off throttle. 7. Always make sure you have enough fuel when felling a tree. You don't want to be in a middle of a guy running out of gas. (Tree become a time bomb). 8. When it starts to fell get out there fast and safely. Have two clear routes plan and cleared out.

@@bettysplace5409 no problem. Just want you to be safe. That's some of the things I've learn and from talking to others that do tree work full time. Personal protection a stickler with me. You only get one set of legs, one face, two eyes and ears.

God Lord please watch some work safe BC fallers videos or buckin Billy Rae Smith or put the saw down. Please get some kevlar power saw shaps or saw pants - they stop you from bleeding out on the back forty if you slip, the saw kicks back or a chain breaks and contacts your leg. Get a hard hat with hearing protectction and a steel face screen it lets you walk through the bush without getting slapped in the face and has the added benefit of keeping broken chains off your face - your wife will thank you. Learn how to do a humbolt cut or classic wedge cut and please do remove your wedge on the fore cut, An axe helps here to knock out the wedge if your cuts didnt line up( mine usually dont). It will surprise you how much more precise your falling get. No need to hand saw the saw back and forth just set the spike dogs in, lever the saw slowly around,and line up the gunning site line on the clutch cover housing in the desired direction of the fall. Watching all the time for dead limbs from above that can fall down and kill you. My pro friends wont let me pick up a saw to help them without this stuff. Im old but still learning having used probably 3 of my nine lives on errors out in the bush. Be safe and learn how to work fast and efficiently, your wife and kids will thank you.

Watch a few videos from the pros and try again. That saw can get hold of you quick. Let the saw do its job. When you go back and forth bad things can happen. Slow and steady. You got this bro. A few more trees and you'll be in business.

Before you use the saw again spend some time on you tube for correct techniques for operating a chain saw, you managed to get the tree down but the technique was not good at all, don't give up...gotta start somewhere...

Try sharpening the chain as well don’t ever pull front to back let the chainsaw do the work but before you even try that one you should go get some chaps and a helmet my dad is a logger as am I and I grew up in the woods all of my life and I’ve ran these things plenty of times if you don’t know something ask a question

Thanks for sharing that video. It’s one of the best ones to show what not to do when felling a tree. The most urgent points: 1. never fell a tree with a unfinished notch 2. never cut a notch deeper then a quarter of the trees diameter BTW the saw is great but you forgot to sharpen your chain. Please do a course before felling your next tree
