Working Your Ticket If You Can? - Finishing Up Wood Badge

Now the hard part? Making time to complete your ticket. A ticket is broken up into 5 parts. Setting up your tasks in a logical order with the calendar in mind. Your Troop 1 Guide for your patrol is still there. Contact your Troop Guide as they have resources to help. Making changes to your ticket may need to happen. Your patrol guide can help you in getting approvals. When you complete your ticket it's time for you to get “beaded”.

How lucky I was. I was ready for wood badge. The new Wood Badge was coming out (1999) I was lucky enough to go to Philmont for the NEW wood badge course, Pilot Course in 2000. It was great. Got to work on my ticket right way. The course was amazing, taught by wood badge professionals from across the country. and at Philmont. This was my second trip to Philmont that summer. I had brought our troop in early June for a Trek, came home and rested and turned around and went back for a week. Best summer ever.

The calendar is a VERY important part of completing your ticket as well as anything else in life. While I was working on my ticket, my son was working on his Eagle project. I was also adding to my achievements to apply for the Council Award of Merit. You can't do all that without a calendar. Of course, I had the best guide to calendaring -- my late husband. We weren't digital, but it worked.

I just completed my first weekend of SHAC 20-1 and in just that 3 days I feel I am way more prepared and inspired to be a Scouter than before I went. I can't wait for things to get back to normal and I can complete my second weekend. Go BOBWHITES!

If I was a Bear or a Fox there would be so many jokes about Bobwhites. When I went through my course, I too was a Bobwhite. Much to the shame of my entire Owl family. When I did staff, I was adopted by the Owls… Now I'm Bob-Owl? The course director didn't like it when I told her that I was trans-crittering. LOL... YIS ⚜

I am getting ready go through my second weekend next weekend and I got all my tickets approved now I got a rewrite them in sentences any ideas

I think the sentence is a type of mission statement that covers all the goals set in your ticket. Think about the keywords in your goals. This should be included in the statement. Don’t get too caught up in getting it together before the second weekend. Your troop guide will help you through the process. Thank you for contributing to our community. Under the latest Wood Badge course guide, your guide becomes your ticket councilor, unless an exception should be made.

It's good to see that it's still the case. I was troop guide back in 2017 and for the next year and a half, I worked on ticket issues with the patrol. 100% success on getting all of my patrol beaded. YIS⚜

When thinking about your ticket, consider service to the district. Unit Commissioners and District Committee needs your help. Ask your Troop Guide and SPL for guidance and have fun. YIS⚜

@@ScouterStan Since I'm just an Assist. Cubmaster/ Webelos Den Leader, most of my tickets are focused on the Den level of operations. We're a small Pack with only 4 Adult volunteers who wear multiple hats. My ticket goals are focused around recruitment and retention of not only new Cubs, but parent volunteers. I did, however, save one for personal growth by becoming fully trained in IOLS and BALOO and completing the District Level training per the request of our District Council Chair (who coincidentally is also a fan of your channel) SHOUTOUT to Fr. Ken Domingue who was a great inspiration for me at Wood Badge!

Well, it does appear that you have your hands full with worthy goals. Always keep in mind that we need help in the district too. As you gain more experience through Cub Scouts this would be incredibly important to a Unit Commissioner position. Maybe not a ticket item but a long-range goal. As a woodbadger I actually don't care for the ticket process . The used car sales tactics of adjusting /adding to your already busy scouting career. The multiple format non standard then told to rewrite on another format because ticket reviewer can't or won't open it. The bulk of partipants already wear multiple scouting hats . 5 tickets yes but reasonable. While course is informative and worth the trip the ticket proces alone and how they treat you during all the signature process is a deterrent against recommending course . Also if I treated a youth in the same manner I would be removed .

I agree that the ticket concept needs work. The ideal is to have participants create their own goals. I have been told that the process has been made more difficult. I don't know if this is intentional but it is not very Scout like. It should be meaningful goals but not ones that need to be rewritten over and over just to make the process more intensive. The concept of approving another individual's goals in Scouting is strange. Where did this authority come from for approving others' personal goals? Helping, assisting, mentoring from the Troop Guide is all that's needed. Hopefully, the new Wood Badge is different in this regard. YIS⚜
