👍👍👍👍👍Being an experienced logger, Jim knows when it's safer to not get on the cart as the horses pull logs on uneven ground. And his wonderful drafts are so well trained they obey his commands to pull without his being in the cart for safety concerns. Today was a beautiful glimpse of how Jim and his horses work together to stay safe. Just imagining the terrible accident had Jim been on the cart for that one log as the cart flipped over is scary to think about. The Good Lord Jesus was keeping Jim and the horses safe! Thank you Jesus🙏 The forrest is a wonderland all covered in snow! And Brenda got her lovely Christmas tree!! Brenda, I hope you will let us see your Christmas tree all decorated with lights and ornaments! Loved the video, and Lady and Bill did a superb job, as they always do.

And now you know why they call them "Widow Makers" had that been a really big branch that unfortunately might have been the case. And Jim is right now you know why they wear hard hats. been there done that myself. the mistake everyone makes is they think they will be able to react fast enough to avoid things like that. well even it Jim had looked up and seen it break off it would have hit him somewhere on his body before he got out of the way. again been there and been the recipient of those same conditions. Things like happen way faster than the human can react. Great team work JIm and Brenda. thanks for sharing. ECF

I agree with Brenda's expression after Jim's comment about the "joys of logging". Like Brenda, I enjoy the ride/walk through the woods and the horses nibbling in the "Office Lunchroom" surrounding them. The branch falling and the upset cart are disconcerting! No matter whether it is farming, logging, or sawmill tasks, it is NEVER a DULL MOMENT watching this channel! ALSO, I am amazed at the level of difficulty of work performed as well as the challenges from inclement weather as well as the sheer volume of PHYSICAL LABOR accomplished by both Brenda and Jim. I think it is very smart for the chickens to be near Brenda when the insects come to the surface as she (or the grandchildren) harvest the potatoes. Chickens are terrific farm animals. The cats/kittens must have sonar inside them to detect when to dodge the horses hooves which are almost as large in size as the "meow crew".

Yes , gloves , safety boots layers , hard hat plus liner in cold weather . One peace long John underwear with rear trap door .We won't get into what Brenda wears or her daughters, but you got to love their Toques. Very cozy and not fashion conscious. Just what they need for cold up state n y weather in winter . Summer bikinis would be nice .😂

@1striperon Жыл бұрын
@@chips4974 I asked because I’m always interested in what keeps people warm in winter. I have never found rubber boots that are warm. I seldom find gloves to keep my fingers warm. So I ask to learn if there are boots and gloves that do the job. If it is the physical exertion, I would like to know that. The only way to learn is to ask.
@chips4974
@chips4974 Жыл бұрын
A serious answer is felt lined boots with wool socks and leather mitts with wool mitts inside . Winter underwear and wool shirt plus snow pants and parka. That's what I wore in Northern Ontario scaling logs in minus 40 Celsius. Not fashonable but I was trying to survive the bitter cold , plus a warm truck parked near by also helped .Short answer buy wool .
@1striperon
@1striperon Жыл бұрын
@@chips4974 Thank you. Felt lined boots and wool socks were also my answer to cold feet. Long John’s or one piece long underwear with wool hunting pants for my legs. Heavy flannel shirt over a turtleneck and under a lined hooded sweatshirt under a parks. I had wool gloves inside lined leather chopper mittens that were off often to run the chainsaw. Topped off with a balaclava that would cover my face partway. It was hard to move in all the layers. That was many years ago.

There's the physics class that you take in high school or college with all the formulas, diagrams, charts and practice problems, then there is the Applied Physics class you get watching Jim calculate the height and lean of a tree, which way to fell it to cause the least damage and calculate the angles and length of the logs so the horse team can pull it out of the woods. Amazing. Who said physics was boring or impractical! Not!

I had 2 mback into the wany roll over because I didn't pay attention to see what side had the most limbs on it. Once you have been swatted to ground by a pine tree you learn very quickly. It cost me a chainsaw and a sprained ankle but the Good Lord was watching over me that day. I never went back into the woods without my hard hat ,chaps and steel toe boots.
