Working Horses With Jim

Күн бұрын

We know you are all wondering what we decided to do with Ken, so here is what we're thinking! We also have a special helper here, Jacob, who is doing some horse work around the farm while Jim is recovering from his shoulder injury. Jacob is feeding the cows with a round bale and spreading manure with the draft horses.
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horse farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

Jim, It's sad, but there are people out there that will say things completely out of place for no reason. Anyone that watches your channel for any length of time should have all the faith in the world, that you will always do what's best for your situation, and the good of your horses. Best Regards.

You have been clear from the start that Ken would be placed in an environment where he could be useful working. I watch this channel because I enjoy watching the loving relationship between Jim and Brenda as well as the loving relationship between them and their horses. Jim and Brenda have integrity.

We recently bought a Shire who's has done everything from logging to pulling sleighs on a ski hill. We dont have a ton of experience with pulling horses. This horse has made all of our dreams come true. He is just so reliable and good natured. He has taught us so much and kept us safe. Please send Ken to someone who has a dream to work with pulling horses so they can get experience too. It has brought so much joy in our lives.

I think Jim confused what I said about the Amish selling to kill buyers. This is what I wrote, Hello Jim and Brenda, if you could please take a look at this video, this is what comes off the Amish farms when the horse buyers come through. "January Almost Live Assessment and Buyout - 20 Saved from Slaughter!" on the channel>> Horse Plus Humane Society. The Amish sell horses that are in pretty rough shape to kill buyers who ship to slaughter, these were not given necessary vet care or euthanized but sold at slaughter price to squeeze that last dollar out of the animal instead of doing what was right for that animal. Every horse rescue will tell the same story about the Amish and their chronic cases of severe equine neglect. You take beautiful care of your animals, yet your Amish neighbors do not when a horse is no longer useful to them. My questions are; Jim, as a man of god, what do you think about this? Would you speak up if you saw this abuse by your Amish neighbors? Please find appropriate homes where they will remain safe throughout their lives.

I got discharged by hospital today.. I dislocated my shoulder and cracked a bit of bone.. 7 weeks ago. I know they are really happy because they are busy ponies who love going out with people.

Sorry you got an injury also. Hope you heal quickly. 🙏🏽Sad you had to let them go, but it sounds like a great & happy place for them to be!! 💐 I hope you can see them! I'm glad they have help. Even if he's perfectly capable of driving, if anything were to go wrong, he would forget the arm & go into crisis mode, thereby possibly worsening the injury. I got a bad concussion 6 months ago when I slipped on a wet spot & collided with a rock. I am not supposed to do anything risky to make more brain bleed. I've tried to be so careful on the ice this winter, but it's everywhere, & I've already slipped twice. I did catch myself, but it was still too close for comfort. I think I need a good pair of ice cleats.🙏🏽

Farmers/logger and/or independant business owners like you understand the need for community. Glad to hear Jim's sense humor is still there... and, of course, Brenda takes it all in stride. I never get tired of watching these beautiful, powerful horses doing all that heavy work with such a calm demeanor... most of the time😉. I have had an injection in my back for my back hernia and i feel so sick and weak since then, glad you always have longer videos. I think a lot of people just love Ken a lot and there are many rescue videos on youtube of work horses that end up in the slaughter pipeline to Mexico, that it is seen so much, it has become an underbelly feeling especially from horses from the amish and they might think you do the same, and a lot of older farmers are known to do that. I hope my English is not to bad, greetings from the Netherlands ❤ p.s have a four year old dutch horse, maybe we can trade ken for her, she is a bit too wild for my since my back hernia 😁

Can’t believe what people say, surly if they have been watching your videos they will understand that you would never do anything like selling Ken for meat that’s just ridiculous a man who loves his horses like you do. I’m sure God willing Ken will get his new forever home

Don't worry about comments much at all. Sounds like Ken needs to go to a place where he will get the movement he needs. I figure it would not matter if someone rode him or hitched him to whatever just as long as he gets a nice home. I do wonder what a horse thinks when they are moved off to some new place with new people

I've always wondered how a horse, or any animal really, feels when moved away from home. The story of "Black Beauty" comes to mind. That horse never forgot the love his first owner gave him!

Oh my gosh, I would never think you and Brenda would ever consider doing that to Ken or any of your horses for that matter. I've watched your channel for quite a long time, and you have always taken excellent care of your horses. You encouraged my interest in drafts, and I have long wanted a draft horse for our 120 ac farm. I've owned riding horses all my life. As a retired mid-60s person, I'd rather ride in a wagon now. 💯❣️

So sorry you had to make this video to explain this. Surely, whoever was making those comments were either new to the channel or trolls because anyone that has watched you and Brenda for any length of time know how much you all care for your horses and would never do anything to harm them or send them someplace they could be harmed!

Hi jim, you couldn't have been more clear in your video that what you wanted was one of your viewers who knew Ken to take him and continue working him for many many years to come. If you get ignorant viewers who are not paying attention and assuming something else, that's not on you, that's on them. Hopefully Ken will go to a good home.

I watch your channel because I love horses even though I don’t know much about them. I haven’t been watching your channel long but I never once thought the horses were being sold for meat. My thoughts are your farm, your business. You do you. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am learning a lot by watching your channel.

Jim I knew you and Brenda would make the best decisions about Ken. He's a treasure horse with the best family, and that's your choice. Ken will be a teacher to his next owner, especially if there is young children involved. We had the pleasure of bringing in an X heading and healing horse for our kids. He Gave our kids so much as learning responsibility and caring. We still miss him to this day, he's still in our hearts. Thanks you guys for the video! Love every minute. Hope you get permission to video him at his new home. KC

Wow who thought that 😮 obviously they dont listen to how much you care and love your horses and only want the best for them and selling them yourself and not at auction proves this. Looks like you have a really lot of snow there i am a little jealous 😂😊
