Locke would have us see 'Man' as a subset of the single set 'Apes', 2. Hitler would have us see 'Man' as one set and 'Apes' as another. The former anticipated Darwin, the latter rejected Darwin yet both believed in a God. The only way for an individual to move from one philosophy to the other is by saying, in effect, "God is dead."
