The reason for the name "midnight sun": In the far northern/southern parts of the world, the tilt of the earth causes the sun to be visible even during midnight and it relates to the theme that "just because the sun isn't always visible doesn't mean its lost", basically just because Erwin dies doesn't mean him and his dreams are lost, they'll be carried on by his comrades

Bertolt managed to find his conviction towards the end and was putting in work against the scouts. Zeke had his own perfect game and obliterated the rest of the scouts. The titan on all fours scouted ahead, provided Zeke with boulders, saved him AND Reiner and helped them all escape. Reiner killed one soldier and then got demolished. Then he woke up. And got demolished again. I think it's safe to say that Reiner got carried through this battle. His entire team carried him and his best friend died because he was getting carried so much. On a side note, I definitely respect Bertolt for what he believed in and that awesome OST he brought. R.I.P. Bert. You'll always be the Colossal in my heart. Our original poster boy. And as for Floch, he may sound annoying, but Erwin coming up with that plan was the only reason the Beast wasn't able to get over the wall and obliterate the rest of the scouts with his throwing ability. He provided them the opportunity for victory while being at a disadvantage(due to Zeke being skilled at long range fights). Erwin overthrew the Government and made the plans that allowed everyone to get to this point. Floch doesn't really know Armin, so saving a random scout with potential over a commander with known ability seems crazy to him. But also, carrying Erwin over an entire field just to be told you did that for nothing has to feel really crappy.

"this is purely a fight of personal preferences". Ok no. They both lost and won some bets. But in a realistic situation, Erwin would almost always be the pseudo right answer. Hange even points out his leadership where Armin lacks tremendously. I'm not saying I would have chosen Erwin but in a military state, the chain of command should prevail. Besides, Armin and Erwin are both incredibly smart and shined in situations the other would have never stumbled upon. It's true that Levi doesn't want Erwin to die and even though he is comforting his choice by saying he is the leader of humanity, he is what most military body would have chosen. Bertholdt's death is really sad when you think about it. They're just teenagers forced into their role as monsters (As Reiner talked about in season 2) and they probably aren't very happy to be doing what they're doing. And Bertholdt specifically said back in season 2 that being friends with everyone wasn't a lie, asking Mikasa, Jean and everyone to "find them". In the end, he dies a brutal death, alone, neither his "fake" friends or his true comrades there to help him. A scared kid, forced into a horrible life, dying a brutal death all by himself. Tragic.

Floch surviving is pure simbolism. It's just as you said: "Why is this brat still alive?". Because they're human beings too, not because Floch doesnt appear in the show or we barely know his backstory means that he doesnt deserve to have an opinion in this war and over his life and future. Of course you will be freaking out if someone tells you to charge at a gruesome death, but after he survived, something that even him didnt know why, he realized that every life if disposable for a good reason, but Erwin was the only one who made them realize that, and that's because Erwin is the Devil they were expecting to rise. Of course this isn't something made for you to understand at first when you watch this episode, because all characters on this episode are known by us, we care for them and we know what they've been through, but that doesnt mean their life is more valuable than other, that's the whole point of Attack of Titans, the world is cruel and you just have to accept it and fight against it.

Floch doesn't have a voice on that choice? Even if he went through hell just because Erwin told him to do it? Idk, i think he earned that right, and he, better than anyone, understood they need a "devil" to fight the Titans.

i love that the reason that levi chose armin was not because he wanted armin to live, but because he wanted erwin to have his rest. which is ironic because he kept telling eren to keep his emotions out of the way when it was actually levi's emotions that made that decision. i hate that levi always gets the task to do the dirty job and execute things, but i also love that isayama never forgets to remind us how much of a compassionate character levi is

I never understood the dislike for Floch. In fact I relate to him. When I first watched this episode I knew Armin was going to be chosen simply because he's a part of the main trio so I really didn't give a damn, Eren and Mikasa were annoying me, I understand their outbursts but actually attacking Levi? That pissed me off, like beg, plead, reason, cry for God sakes but attack? That's some protagonist privilege right there. Yes in the end Erwin made that decision because it was all him however if we really think about it if in real life we had to choose between saving a comander of an army or a talented soldier like we wouldn't be having any debate. Even the soldier's friends would understand that for survival of the whole army we need to save our leader. So I'm fully behind Floch.

Floch carried a guy who commanded all his friends to die in front of him ,he walked with basically dead weight to get on the roof and hear people taking abt friendship and sea remember he not us he don’t know what armin has done to why is it even a debate bring a rookie back to life or a commander in real life that’s not even a serious question
@ssppooppcristi67343 жыл бұрын
yea , but he is not a main character so people hate him for no reason ... even if he had valid points , its clearlly better to choose the guy who wants to see the sea ( cause he is the only one who has dreams ) instead of the commander ( who wants to find out the truth going into the basement ) erwins goal was from the beginning to learn more about humanity ( if its possible the truth ) and save the humanity he knew about ( the humans on the island of course ) in any kind of case like this where the commander isnt hated by everyone and isnt a piece of shet , would be choosen 100% over a kid that has no skill of leading yet ...

Well, at this point he is a nobody from the audience’s POV, so I can somewhat understand people dismissing, misunderstanding or not even listening to what Floch is saying. But he just came back from death. As far as he knows, he was supposed to die there against an impossible opponent. But Erwin made it possible. He doesn’t want to bring Erwin back out of spite, he just wants to bring back the only person crazy enough to be able to bring down the Beast and the Titans. And this probably came from Survivor’s Guilt, but I think he feels he’s the only one who undeservedly lived from that charge, for the purpose of bringing Erwin back. So, I think he has every right to be there on the rooftop even though to us, he is a nobody.
@jrmcrlmorales3 жыл бұрын
I think if anything Floch's weird little speech could've influenced Levi's decision more towards saving Armin instead. Levi's main reasoning to not give it to Erwin was because he didn't want to bring him back to the hell that is their world which is exactly the opposite of what Floch wanted. After getting that kind of perspective from him, (on top of everything else) Levi probably realized that it wasn't fair to do that specially after their final conversation.
