I did this about 3 years ago, then last year put another side box on the other side, with a side self. The center unit after a years with all that extra weight on it is, so far, holding up fine.

Like order replacement drawers and swap them? im liking the 26" and would defintely add the top chest but it just has too many small 3" drawers and would like to have at least 4-5 deep drawers. I would add the end cabinet too to complete the whole toolbox but then the width of the end cabinet is too small lol. Any ideas? thanks and awesome job on the mod bro looks super clean. I’d modify the drawers further by adding rolling casters at the far end because if you load up a lot of tools it could easily tip if it out weights the bigger center box

It’s feels fine to me. My cabinet isn’t full. I’d say it’s about 40% full. It feels stable. As far as moving it around, it was tough with the two fixed wheels. It’s because the end cabinets were made to attach to the roller cabinets, not the mechanics cart.

The only thing I did was change the two fixed wheels to swivel wheels. Having all four swivel wheels makes it easy to move the tool cart. I haven’t had any issues with weight distribution. At least not yet.

I haven’t had any problems pushing mine around. I did swap the two fixed casters to swivel casters. That made it a lot easier. And it will have more tendency to tip if you load the attached tool cabinet heavier than the cart.

I've always liked this mod- though I wonder why no one adds 2 castors onto the outer corners of the end cabinet? I think it would help stabilize the whole thing and give more support to the end cabinet once it's fully loaded with tools... Just a thought.

That’s a good idea. The cabinet sits a little higher than the cart. You’d just have to add spacers. But it should work.

I bought it in February of 2022. I ordered it from my local harbor freight and it came in a few weeks later.

Hell Yeah!!! Thanks for the tip. I've had a US General 5 drawer 30 inch cart since 2016 that I use at the CNC Shop to work between the Milling and Lathe Department. I likeed it so much that I recently bought another one for working on my cars at home. I needed more room for my tools at home and this video did the trick. Keep up the good work!!!

great video , my only thought how unbalanced does it become from all the weight on one side ??

I haven’t had any issues, but my cabinet add-on isn’t filled with a lot of heavy tools. It may be unbalanced depending on how the weight of the tools are distributed.

I was thinking about adding 2 more wheels to the end of the side cabinet to balance it out So a total of 6 wheels
