Dryland workouts provide a way to complement your swim training wherever you are: at home or on vacations.
The main goal of dryland training is pretty simple: to provide a foundation of strength and mobility to improve your performance in the water. These training exercises for swimmers help activate core and build upper body swim power, fix muscle imbalances, improve posture and coordination, minimize the risk of injury at any prolonged swim sessions, and so on.
To turn your living room in a gym, all you need is a few pieces of dryland equipment - such as DRY TRAINING swim trainers with paddles or with handles. They will never go out of style. They are lightweight and compact, and come in different levels of resistance.
For each goal, choose the proper resistance level. To develop the strength choose the hardest one. For speed&strength and special work medium resistance level is fine. For high-speed training the lightest resistance is the best option.
Dryland swim trainers allow you to perform a huge variety of exercises. By changing the angles and amplitudes, you can significantly supplement your normal swim routine. By learning new movements we provide a beneficial load to the body and create new neural pathways. This is a good support for athletes during the rehabilitation periods after injuries.
In a one-year training cycle dryland trainers can be used continuously:
• During the preparatory period the trainer is used to restore and improve the stroke technique and strengthen the muscles of the shoulder and upper limb.
• During the major period - to improve the endurance and strength.
• During the pre-competition period - to progress all the skills depending on the stroke and distance you are swimming.
• During the recovery period - to stay in swimming shape and keep yourself physically ready.
Do not forget to warm up before starting this exercise routine in order to reduce the chance of injury. As with any weight training or cardio training, make sure your muscles and joints are prepared to work at high intensity.
