@@kevinenglish5460definitely let Connor win because he had a big bonus in his contract if he won the US trials 🤣

Eric took his humble pie like a true sport. And Clayton has a wonderful sense of humor. I’m a new fan of his.

Great interview! I have been a big BYU fan watching Mantz and Clayton run over the years. I knew Clayton was good but to see him emerge to become elite/olympic runner has been inspiring. I don't think experts would have predicted Young to be one of 2 who would qualify for Paris couple of years sgo. I lnow i didnt. his performance in Chicago was amazing and at the same made me realize that he just as good as Mantz. Clayton love your story and congratulations in securing your spot to Paris. Well deserved.

Dont worry folks with the Olympic Marathon the real race will happen between Young and Mantz….thats something i cant wait for.

Panning maybe should have not tried for the standard and just went for third and then hope to make it on the selection process. That's not a sure deal either so do have to respect him for going for it.

I would feel awkward being in Mantzs’ situation and kind of being allowed to win. No, it doesn’t really matter; they both made it. But it would almost make it feel fake. But maybe that’s just me. I’m happy they have such a good bond

Could be a deal they made with the prize money from sponsors. Also I think Mantz let Young win at the 20k race
@dmanthei11 ай бұрын
Based on the interview Clayton stated Mantz was struggling at the end. Young appeared to be the stronger runner at the end. I think this just shows the respect and brotherhood they have for each other. Their main goal was for them to both make it ! Goal was achieved. Clayton deserved to soak up the moment on making it to Paris . His journey from being injured last year and now making the team is amazing in it self.
