Someone needs to create an Online university App for the Quest and VR. This could be the Killer App. Want to learn Networking? Class is at 10. Sewing? Cosplay costume making? It could be a huge educational tool. Forgot college tuition. You could lower cost by a factor of 10 I'm sure. Education available to everyone (who can afford a headset).

The digital office is one of the first things I imagined already years ago to define the future of office work, especially when headsets will start to arrive in a more comfortable formfactor with higher res and fov. The corona situation will certainly give this an extra push and those better headsets will arrive within the next years. With this software the concept is totally here now.

i would say adoption will follow the same path as business computers in the first place, say in the 1980's. Enthusiasts always underestimate inertia and pushback. Meta will be coming out with a better headset in the $1,000 price range that will actually work with this app (main problem is comfort and resolution). That's not too much for a real business "use case" but i think we are talking about a very tiny takeup and a long long growth path

Great video! Workrooms is great app. I would gladly work and take all meetings this way. The problem is still the hardware. We need smaller, lighter, and higher resolution headsets. Until we solve this issue VR will not take off as much as it should. If the rumors of an Apple headset are true we may see some progress. Regardless of peoples feelings on Apple products they make amazing hardware. If anyone can pull it off my money is on them.

Thank you for the video! You make great job showing things that a lot of people don't have and you really show that future is already here. Funny how most of the people on this planet live in 14-th century and some lucky ones live in 21-st century, a real cyberpunk future that only several years seemed to be just a sci-fi dream. But when I see office in 3D, I can't stop thinking that people like to be slaves of corporations. Everything looks cool in 3D. Even soul-crushing career simulator. I worked in the office and there are a lot of good things, but I would NEVER go there again. Don't have any nostalgia about office furniture or environment.

Maybe it's just me but I just cannot enjoy the lower field of view and pretty terrible sweet spot and low contrast on Quest 2. And, along with the constant weight and discomfort of wearing the thing, even with literally the strap you have in this video, it's just not a great experience imo. I'm at the point where I kinda regret even buying it and rather than just sticking with my Rift CV1 alone, which, all things taken into account, just offers a better and more comfortable experience overall and that I really never had an issue with but simply wanted the next evolution of VR after having it for a few year--the Quest 2 is not that imo. A bit more resolution and some framerate jump that is basically imperceptable to me isn't enough to make the Quest 2 a great overall experience. It's just not a particularly enjoyable experience. I think I might need to wait for the next generation or so of standalone before it meets my minimum standards for display quality and comfort and the like.
@IsaacLightning3 жыл бұрын
120hz is certainly not imperceptible to most people
@inceptional3 жыл бұрын
@@IsaacLightning I literally notice zero difference between running my Quest 2 in 120Hz vs 72Hz. And maybe that has something to do with how Oculus is doing this, maybe it's not truly 120Hz but just projection or something, but I don't notice it.
@IsaacLightning3 жыл бұрын
@@inceptional It's true 120, you must not be getting enough frames maybe? Because that's a huge jump and its impossible to miss imo. At least for me. But yeah they basically revealed that the hardware was good for 120hz the whole time, and it was enabled as a "new feature" cause I guess they figured they had made enough software optimizations by that point for it to be viable. But it's definitely real, I can assure you.

Lmao *that's* what astonished you about this? Its a simple gyroscope sensor and they've been in our phones and gps's to track orientation (up, down, left, right) for decades now.
@inceptional2 жыл бұрын
@@BlamingBuddha True, but it seems a bit more advanced than that because it presumably doesn't start writing until you actually touch the virtual board and stuff (which I guess is just it checking collision). Regardless, it's more the novelty and creativity of the idea than the tech behind it. I mean, not many people would have thought to allow you to hold the Touch controllers the wrong way around and use them to write on a virtual board with actual pen-like motions. And, by the way, this will surely be even better with the new controllers for Cambria since they won't have the rings to get in the way. :D PS. The Wii with its Wiimotes came out before the first iPhone and allowed basically this exact kind of interaction, so I'd kinda give Nintendo the credit for creating a device you can hold somewhat like a pen and use gyroscope/accelerometer motion controls to do simple interactions like air-writing.
