Longtime gamers since the SNES, Sega Genesis up to modern PCs. I've recently started doing research on buying a VR unit. In recent years my eyes aren't great with 1st person games like I once was. I'm concerned about motion sickness in VR. Any opinion on my chances of being able to use and enjoy it?

You will get motion sick the 1st time you use it but you will get used to it the more you use it but some games will make you motion sick no matter what like Skyrim vr with stairs but most games have different in-game settings to reduce motion sickness like different types of movement

Did you ever take the plunge? I’m in my mid 40s and had similar concerns- also not in the best of health, so I expected to get too sick to do anything but stationary VR.. Just got my Quest 2 yesterday and so far, so good. Nausea didn’t end up being an issue, even in fast moving WW2 dogfighting sims or a rollercoaster simulation. My stomach feels a bit fluttery at high altitude or taking a plunge toward earth, but not overwhelmingly so. It actually adds to the immersion, as it fools your brain that you really are at a dangerous height … no flat screen game is remotely comparable. My only issue with it is eye strain - after an hour I can really start to feel the tension in my eyes, so that’s when I always take a break, as I’m sure a headache would quickly follow if I didn’t. My endurance will probably improve as I get more accustomed to VR.

Sounds like a microphone setting you need to enable. There should be a microphone icon in he party chat if you’re using the quest chat feature.

(Thumb trigger change from left to right controller) I'm right handed and need the thumb trigger to be on the right controller so I can have my character run in a straight line. There’s a glitch you can do if you’re not very tall and if you play a game like stand-off first Turn on hand tracking and than do ground level and use it with your hands and it will glitch and go through the ground and you’ll be taller

Be sure your headset is leveled and doesn’t make the visuals blurry, don’t secure it too tight on your head, also you can adjust the distance of the lenses from one another for small size to larger size heads, reach in and move it over to the right once or twice.

If you’re prone to headaches from screens(blue light) then switch to “night mode” in the settings. It removes a lot of the blue light.

the floor should not move around in a VR. also quest 2 is pretty much owned by face book so if you have a quest 2 you have to login with face book and if you end up in face book jail you wont be able to play VR games on quest until your jail time is up. but supposly face book is trying to do a work around on this.
