Years ago I worked at a factory that make subway cars and street cars etc. The foreman thought he had a better idea for a part so he asked for it to be revised, but he still wasn't happy so it was revised again, and then again and again, finally after we saw the latest and final revision one of the guys showed me the original blue print. It was identical to the final revision! 🤣

Reminds me of the tale of one woman who complained about her Latte or Tea, then asked for it to be re-done because it wasn't right. 15 minutes later, she came back and said "See, this is good." The employees didn't do anything to it.

When I used to live in Baltimore, the people in the apartment above mine had a cat and that kept the mice at bay. But when they moved out, the mice decided to come back in force. Over the months of fighting them, I settled on the Victor electric trap as being the superior one. Snap traps are great... right up until they don't actually kill the mouse and you have to finish it off yourself. The electric one (I had the "pro" or mid-sized version) never failed. If I were to do it again... I'd probably just get a cat.

That's all fine and dandy until the cat only sees the mouse as a "play toy", they'll grab it, hop into your bed fling it up in the air, recatch it and continue... until they aren't able to recatch it. Don't ask me how I know.

I had 3 of these, 2 different generations, over about 10 years. Each of them, no matter how carefully monitored and cared for, lasted only for 2-3 mice, after which it just plain failed. Kinda expensive at around $20 for the equivalent each of 3 50-cent wooden traps! This one appears to have the same mechanism as the ones I had. Later you recommended the Owltra, and I've now had one for 3 years; it still works perfectly.

I had several that failed. Took them for a teardown at the forensic electronic club. The cause back then was incredibly poor Chinese? soldering with substandard parts, on a dirty flux laden PCB. I tried every which way to contact their support for a circuit diagram, including photo's of the defective ones without conformal water protection. I reckon the factory cost would be $1.50 odd for the electronics. They just fobbed me off, did not deliver. I looked at various patents for a rough circuit, and discovered they once did price collusion. I am now wiser, and still suspect a protection flywheel diode is missing in the 8000v area. So keep the receipts, and run a consumer warranty case against them . How odd to review things, without a photo of the electronic guts for robustness. Oh, their one secret was the mouse or rat got electrocuted twice, maybe after a minute. Who knew rats have auto cpr heart restart after being officially dead.

Shawn, I have a few questions after enjoying your channel for several months (Or years, I don't know exactly) - Why is your place always infested with mice and rats? Do you let in that way to try more mousetraps? - In several previous videos you showed that the traps capture some local species that you bring to the wild for preservation purposes. If that the case, should you only test live capture traps due to the risk to kill a local / endangered species? Cheers and thanks for the great content.

The mice in my shed use these traps once--I get one dead mouse. Then, this being WV, they learn. After they learn, they never go back to that dark hole that killed their buddy. I get maybe one mouse a year in those traps, a body-count that makes them kinda worthless to me. Let me know when they come up with a trap that thinks like the mice.

I've had mixed luck with these electronic traps. I've had 3 versions- and when they work, they work well. But for some reason they seem to just quit for no apparent reason. I have the expensive wifi version of the victor electronic rat trap. It gives false readings all the time saying it caught something but it didn't. I have a camera set up next to it so I've also seen things go into it, but the trap doesn't fire. According to their app it's working fine....but it isnt.

I got the version you showed at 1:02 and it was an absolute waste. I think it got one mouse in total over more than a year & 3 packs of batteries. Putting bait at the back of the chamber was never enough to entice them - I always had to put extra peanut butter at the entrance, and the mice would only eat that, if anything. I think they don't feel like squeezing past the "safety walls", or they've learned to avoid traps outright, or the trap itself is dead.
