This video was great. Theres a few minor details left out if your truck has the Alpine system or was "navigation ready" but they were pretty easy to figure out. It appeared to me i had some RCA inputs that went to nothing labeled sub, aux2 and something else I forget. But on the factory 8.4 there are no RCA inputs like that. So i concluded the factory Alpine amp and sub must run through the primary radio harness. Currently it seems like i was right. I did have to go into Car Setting and adjuat the settings for the factory amplifie but it sounds great currently. I also had 3 plugs. 1 is covered in the video, as the XM antenna and isnt used. One is the FM antenna. It took me a minute to deduce the 3rd (yellow...if i remember correctly) my truck came navigation ready. All i ever had to do was activate my subscription which i never did. It appears its the factory GPS antenna. It doesnt fit the new unit. But the kit comes with its own GPS antenna. So non issue. Tucked it away with the XM antenna. Everything seems to be working great right now.

Hey so I just installed this. It was pretty straight forward. The factory sub and Amp work through the radio harness. I matched the RCA cables to their respective counterpart and had some that had no place to go. But they dont exist on the factory radio so I out 2 and 2 together. At first when I played it it seemed like it wasn't working. But under Vehicle settings I scrolled down and found the settings for the factory amp. I adjusted it to my liking and it sounds pretty good now. I'm still working out the equalizer settings. It has alot more adjustability then I'm used too. That's how it went down for me. Hopefully that helps

Just did this install on 2015 Ram 1500 Bighorn. One issue is which antenna connector to use, as I have 3 of them (white, puke yellow, and purple). I have shark fin antenna + the whip up front. He says the WHITE one to be the XM antenna, but it is not: that is the main AM/FM whip antenna, I believe the puke yellow is XM, purple (which the truck in the video didn't have) is GPS. I originally used the puke yellow one (purple didn't fit) and got super spotty FM reception. Swapped to the white, and FM now works great.

What did you find out on this? I made some assumptions that seem to be working out. One of them was XM and the video says you don't use it. 1 was my FM antenna, the other I took a guess that it was the factory GPS antenna. My truck was navigation ready, I imagine yours was too. My kit came with it's own GPS antenna so I used that and tucked the other away with the XM antenna. Is this what you found out? Just curious

Some android units I’ve seen for Rams don’t allow fading for front/rear speakers with the Alpine stereo. Is that the same with this unit?

Does this require purchase of LTE cell service to make use of all the apps like google maps, XM radio and others?

If you plan on using apple car play/android auto then no. However if you don't use apple car play then you could also hotspot the unit with your phone to give it an internet connection. If that is too much work for you then a SIM card would be needed.

What did you do for the media hub in the center console? Most other radios I’ve seen have users install a new media hub so you can plug in phone for CarPlay/Android Auto. Does it come with something like that?

Our kit uses an android Operating system however you can use wireless Carplay.

What is the quality on the reverse camera? Is is comparable to stock or is the picture high def?

The quality is a bit worse as the image is being displayed on a bigger screen however this can easily be negated by using a higher quality aftermarket camera.

Does the original USB ports and aux port retain functionality from within the center console?

The USB ports still work in the center console however the aux port does not. The system does come with apple car play/android auto plus Bluetooth to connect your phone to the system.

The kit comes with RCA outputs for the rearview camera.

How do I hook up my sub connection? All I have is the female connectors for that and the speakers, but nothing corresponds with the color coding in a male connector.
