Look at these guys' faces, how much they are enjoying their jobs, Michael's facial expressions are off the charts. Don't you wish you got that kind of feeling from your job? Anyway, here I am back listening to this 8+ years after it was uploaded. This started off beautiful, but at around the 8/9 minute mark it starts to get magical, almost mystical; first the musicians go there, then the audience joins them. One of my all time favourite performances in terms of musicality and interaction between performers and audience.

This genuinely made me tear up. The music, the reaction from the crowd, just for a few moments just felt like the worlds problems melted away and people were together in harmony and just being in the moment. Truly wonderful. The energy from that crowd, you can feel it even though you aren’t there.

This has to be the best crowd I've ever seen. They appreciated all the wonderful subtle things Cory did. Great listeners. Cory plays the kind of stuff that connects instantly with people and makes it almost impossible not to respond spontaneously. That's what playing music is all about. Connecting with that space inside of us to give a gift to others.

Oh yes! This is too good. As a performance musician, it just feels so right when you here music that is complete improv. It's one thing to read music and play it and it's another thing to play it with heart.... But it's a whole different spectrum when music is just made from scratch live. Love the fact that great minds and talents can come together and make something incredible because this takes both extreme smarts and soul.

Lol i was going to say that through this video you see pull this out of it hypnotized face. I know that feeling a bit from the gigs I've played. It naturally happens when you're so immersed in the music that there's no room anywhere else in your head to actually think about anything but the present moment. It's really an unmatched feeling that no other drug could ever compete with and this guy is lucky enough to have that feeling be his job.

Listening to this for, at least, the fiftieth time. Each time is like watching the first time. To get super spiritual, it reminds me of The Jazz of Preaching, by Kirk Byron Jones: the song is known, but how the Spirit will move the musician/preacher when standing before the people is not known. The call and response from the musicians together, then from the crowd, and finally to the individual watching the video is unbreakable. Thank you to whomever recorded this workshop. It makes me want to be a better preacher.

Meu Deus !

Im a keyboard player and most people don't understand how hard it is to play cords in your left hand like he is doing.People here me please Im left handed and I can't play those cords in my left hand the way he does.This is a gift from God people please believe me,OMG.
@colbalt95
@colbalt95 10 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about I'm left handed and chords especially in that key are very easy to play like what Corey did you just gotta listen and work at it
@blairchatmon3612
@blairchatmon3612 10 жыл бұрын
What am I talking about ? So I guess you can play like Corey ,Ok baller shot caller you post a video and lets see you get anywhere close to the cords he's playing cause talk is cheap,and actions speak louder than words .All I see on here are a bunch of spineless people hiding behind there computer and talking smack about people they an it got the guts to face.
@colbalt95
@colbalt95 10 жыл бұрын
Blair Chatmon No i cant play like Corey but no it is relatively easy but what makes it hard and what separates Corey from others is that there are many other skills that have to be seasoned in our studies soloing, walking the base and he has all of that. I am fairly proficient in left hand chording but cant walk the base because i invested time into one skill more than the other.
@blairchatmon3612
@blairchatmon3612 10 жыл бұрын
I feel ya.Yeah I've worked on recording and song writing man .I do apologize if I came across sort of harsh in my response.However it's really hard to play those 13and 11the cords in sequence like he's playing
@colbalt95
@colbalt95 10 жыл бұрын
Blair Chatmon Its no problem but you're also right about Corey he can do that stuff plus Oscar's stuff effortlessly. I also take for granted that I have perfect pitch so imagining what im going to play in my head away from the board is a bit easier. I gave up on the piano when I was younger because no one wanted to show me how to use left hand chords first because for some odd reason i picked up on progressions well but in the grand scheme of things you're right because learning how to play the base is what most of us were taught first
