Workshop Organization - Wall Mounting System - Channel Strut Ideas, Shelves, Sockets and more!

In this video, I explain all about channel strut or Unistrut, What it is, how it works, and how I use it to organise and store things in the workshop. It can be used in a similar way to the French cleat system. Hope this gives others ideas on how it could be used in their workshop or garage. Enjoy!

Unistrut and Superstrut are great but here in Texas the price has tripled in the last couple of years and hasn't gone down. I used to use it like you are for lots of things but it's just too expensive nowadays.

Instead of zip tying the wires to the strut you could route the cables inside the strut and cover with snap on cover strips

Channel strut can be bought online, it’s relatively cheap, however delivery can be expensive depending on max length. In the UK I use DP Building Systems. They also sell the Jewellery too! Enjoy! You will use far more of the square nuts than you expect. Get a few! Cheers MMHM

Great presentation thank you, everything is well explained however I’m not sure what fixings to use for the uprights attaching it to brick. Do you use sleeve anchors or wall plugs and what size please?

Hello, in this case wall plugs we’re used with normal screws. 5-6 fixings were used over 1.5m for the uprights. Thanks for the interest! Ben

Nice video. I'm planning on using this is my garage. Which finish do you use? Is the pre galvanised good enough to resist rust in a workshop for many years?

I use pre-galv in the workshop, no sign of any rust or discolouration after 5 years installed. Using outside, good idea to use hot dipped galv. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻

Using a central hole in the back box, and using an M6 bolt and zen nut behind. If it’s a double box, use two hole down the centreline of the box! Cheers

I use iMovie on MacBook for editing, also got a GoPro which I move around the workshop, and just use my iPhone11 from time to time to capture close ups! hope this helps. MMHM
