I don't leave mine when running and keep a spray bottle of distilled water beside the laser. Catch it in time you can hit it withe the distilled water and put the fire out. Since distilled water is non conductive no need to waste time shutting the power off. Not sure a fire blanket would do much more than keeping the top closed because any fire would still be getting air through the bottom.
