A suggestion if I may. The large veins bulging out, should have a blue color to them. Look at the back of your hand or the under side of your wrist to see what i mean. They need to be a pale blue, but strong enough to be seen blue, with a ( I guess) wash of flesh tone over it. Just my humble opinion.
@PSPmaster3214 жыл бұрын
Your wrist veins are quite different to the veins on your shoulders/biceps. Look at bodybuilders, you will notice that their bulging veins are not blue.
@MrLapidary4 жыл бұрын
@@PSPmaster321 I understand that the skin on the hand and wrist is thinner than on the body, but I also have seen many body veins show blue as well. I was a paramedic for 21 years and stuck many of them.

Very good Jingles. As you rightly say, your best work ever and really quite good. Your learning fast- The statue immediately reminds me of Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jinn, one of my absolute favorite Jedi. He was the smart one who loved 'little Ani' and knew the now parentless boy needed love and positive emotions not just suspicion and contempt. If he had been Anakin's Master would have kept Anakin on the light side with an understanding not shown by Mace Windu or the later regretful Yoda. However Obi Wan DID learn this and so made sure Luke was raised in a loving family FIRST!

I mentioned this on Facebook, but yes, I only had a few criticisms about this figure. Since you already know what they are, I won't repeat them. Mostly what I had to say was praise, because this is leaps and bounds better than your last figure and is a sign that yes, your effort in learning how to paint is paying off big. Now, then. I threatened to post a lecture on blending, and it's time to pony up. Before I begin, while I assume you know what tinting and shading mean, but just to make sure we are on the same page: in essence, tinting is taking a base color and making it lighter and shading is taking a base color and making it darker. So... Why blend? Skin, clothing, leather, hair and so on are not monolithic colors. Because of natural variations in skin tones, highlights and shadows, natural surfaces tend to have a wide variety of colors to them. Blending allows you to apply those in a way that looks right. Blending is a smooth transition from one color to another. How a painter achieves those transitions depends on what they want the end result to look like. You're already using one of those techniques -- glaze blending. Glaze blending is a technique that achieves good results without a lot of mixing and does a good job for mob figures. Another popular method is wet blending, a technique where you paint a light color and a dark color with a space between them. Then you drag the two colors and mix them through the gap until they are lighter on the one side and darker on the other. Think of it as mixing a medium color on the model rather than your palette. A third method is two-brush blending. It's a variation of wet blending where you have one brush with the lighter color and another with the darker color. You use the brushes to paint your two color regions and then use the light brush to bring that color down into the darker and vice-versa. A fourth technique, and the one I learned first, is to have a painting brush to apply pigments and a clean brush to move it. This is one of the most work-intensive methods. First, you apply a base color to the entire surface, be it skin, clothing, what have you. The base coat should be a medium color, halfway between the darkest and lightest shadows and highlights. Then comes the real work. Using a dark version of your color or black, you mix a shade that's one or two steps darker than the base. Starting at a midpoint along the surface toward a crease or fold, you paint that color over the base. While it's still wet, you take your clean brush, dampen it, and then start dragging the pigment over toward the midpoint, but not quite all the way. The idea is to fade the color until the transition between the shade and the base is as imperceptible as you can make it. Then you mix another shade that's one or two steps darker than the previous shade, and repeat. This gets done two or three times depending on the amount of surface you have to cover and how dark you want the creases or fold shadows to be. While blending the colors, clean the brush occasionally to keep it from loading up with too much pigment. Then you do the same thing using tinting. Mix a tint of the base color that's one or two steps lighter than the base and apply it a little way inside the area of base color you left while shading, and then blend with the clean brush. Do that two or three times until you reach the peak of the highlight. So, what you end up with is, in the case of a muscle, a series of concentric rings that move from dark to light with the edges faded to transparency so that they can't be distinguished. You can apply patches of other colors and blend them outward for variations of skin tone such as the reddish patches often found on human skin, or other colors for other surfaces. While this guy on KZbin doesn't cover that particular technique, but he does talk about techniques one, two and three. His video is mainly geared for mob figures, but it's still pretty good. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWmXn6OsiKmjqas

I am sorry Jingles, but at least the theory behind leather you got wrong. Given that it is barbarian, he would probably have the leather died through and through due to the tanning process which means it is not possible to worn the color from the edges. However, if it would be a lighter brown originally, it would get darker by wearing it and then the scratches would get lighter when new. As it is it seems cheap to my eye as leather from H&M or something. Don't get me wrong, the model is amazing you are so much ahead of me but the leather... :D PS.: Check vegetable tanned leather or J&FJ Baker & Co Ltd tannery for future
