Blows me away that we have these vehicles being restored and preserved here in Australia. Pretty much all of my bucket list tanks housed lovingly in one place and I don't have to leave the country!

Static.. I really wish museums would put more money into these projects and get them completely restored and in running order as their operational numbers are becoming fewer and fewer. when you're a kid and you hear an engine of a tank start up? there is nothing better. I was 8 years old when i first visited Kubinka with my grandfather, they were moving an IS-2 and IS-3, once i heard the engine turn over and start, i was hooked and all i wanted to do was learn more about them because my mind was blown that something that big could even move. But in the end. you got my sub. Always nice to see someone keeping these old girls alive and giving new breath to them.

Thats a pretty difficult task when it comes to rare armour like the German vehicles, there are so few parts available it makes it very difficult to even consider getting one running. If you wanted something truly original you would either have to get extremely lucky and find an original engine or build one from scratch, both options are extremely difficult. Just look at Tiger 131, it is only running because Bovington were able to salvage an HL 230 engine from one of their King Tigers (although 131 originally used an HL 210). Another great example is the ongoing Nashorn restoration which will be a running vehicle but wont be using the original engine.

Got so excited watching both Tiger episodes and Jagdpanther that I can't wait to see your new video! For once you Australians don't have to go to the other side of the world but will have an easier time to visit your museum! Guess it is my turn to go to your museum, 😆 🤣

Very interesting, great to see all the hard labour (it has to be hard and taxing work cutting through hardened armour and knocking the wavey parts out of the smaller pieces in the heat) and ingenuity going into this project. Fantastic that you are bringing this cat back to life! 💪👏👌

Don't understand why they kept heating the shaft, all that does is expand it harder again the gear around it,It's simple logic, shrink the shaft and heat the gear or whatever around it.Standard procedure for attaching or removing an interference fit even if it didn't off start off that way.

With the various different groups around today trying to restore these vehicles I wonder why they couldn't pool their resources and build exact copies of the engines and transmissions? It would still be a ton of work, but with the amounts of money involved here, and the manufacturing technology available today, it's surely doable.
