Just pick up both of em. I use my DCG416 for smaller jobs, such as debur, polish, smaller 5" disc grinding, etc. and I use my DCG418 for hog work such as structural jobs, wide flanges, cutting discs, etc. I carry both of them to the job site, as well as use them in the shop. I have a 4 bay fast charger to keep the batteries cycled and always charged. I have a 12ah, two 9ah and two 6ah 60v batteries. I also have two 8ah, two 6ah, two 5ah, two 4ah and six 2ah 20v batteries. I never have to stop working. I've been with DeWALT for a few years now, and I love them. For most people, the XR will be the best since you get sufficient performance with the best runtime... But for professionals or people that has knows what they want in a tool, dewalt is giving them a lot of options... either go with flexvolt for max performance, power detect/flexvolt advantage for added performance with great runtime.

Amp hour is only capacity so when a battery is 5AH or 9AH that makes no difference in the actual current that it can deliver. Current is measured in amps not amp hours these are two completely different things. This is why the 5AH and 8AH feel exactly the same because the amperage or current is the same. The flexvolt battery on the other hand (doesn't matter that it's 9AH) provides more current and can sustain higher loads. That's the reason it feels different. Either way though great comparison thank you for the video.

Unfortunately you are wrong, 9AH battery has more cells and thus gives small advantage in current it can provide. @Tonyplat983 жыл бұрын
@@Laohei0103 more cells does not mean it can provide more current this is simple math. As far as runtime, they are the same, but the FV 6.0 has 15 cells and the 20-volt 6Ah has 10 cells. FV will weigh more and do better under high amp draws by keeping the voltage higher, but in this case would make a larger battery pack to work around.

Hi, I know the paddle style is a safety issue for the osha or industrial shop . For the average home owner, small garage shop, carpenters or smaller metal shop DeWalt should have their two 20v grinder models like the UK. The paddles and side switch style. Again, i get the paddle so call safety. It just a pain to keep holding the paddle down. Look Makita has a dam switch on the top. I decided to buy the makita for that feature plus the handle design is much comfortably then any other 18v company. Don't get me wrong the flexvolt does have a very comfortable handle grip. The only two things makita needs to improve on their grinder is add a disk break and a better release system on the disk guard. Just wanted to share my thoughts
