Nice job on the grip tape install, I give you props for actually tracing and cutting out the material rather than just buying the cheap aftermarket pre-cut pieces. I've dealt with my share of them and they almost always lose their adhesive and start peeling, or the "grit" actually rubs off and wears down smooth from use. It also looks much better than the generic hardware store grip tape with the yellow stripes that you see on some "restored" tractors.

Thank you for your kind words! I usually do it that way with the template, to be sure I have the correct sizes. Once it's cut, it's cut! I am familiar with the grip-tape you mentioned and I've tried them in the past and they do tend to peel off and lose their grip. I opted for a bit more pricey grip-tape, but I'm super satisfied with the quality. The roller makes a huge difference when applying the grip tape, as you can roll out all the bubbles (if there are any). Cheers.

Be careful around those Kohler those starters like to go out and they disengage sounds good once you get it running good at first it didn’t sound like it was running in both cylinders

The starter was rebuilt and I always try to keep an eye out for that! It can happen, but I didn't hear anything unusual or off on this engine. The whine noise you hear is from the hydraulic drive motor, but everything is tight and fully functional. The forward and reverse are very responsive, so I'm sure nothing is wrong there. Thank for your insight, I appreciate it!

workshopRebuild how did u draw out the foot rest grip tape pattern or do u just measure it out cut out the parrten shape
@WorkshopRebuild
@WorkshopRebuild Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I usually opt for a thin paper or even newspaper and push it onto the indentation of the fender. After that I cut it out and see if it fits. This could also be used as a template if you wish, but if you have a thicker cardboard (like from a cereal box) it will be easier to trace onto the grip tape. I hope this helps.

where u buy the paper from or what type paper is it called n how did u make the pattern out lay
@WorkshopRebuild
@WorkshopRebuild Жыл бұрын
Hi John, the paper I used is a very thin cardboard. You could also use cardboard from a cornflakes box and that will work just fine. After that you can transfer your template to your grip tape. Don‘t forget to lay it down the right way around in order to get both Left and Right grip tapes😁 I hope this helps, regards Andreas

Did you have a muffler on it or was that why it was so loud
@WorkshopRebuild
@WorkshopRebuild 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I do have the muffler on! The Kohler engine seem to be louder than a Briggs & Stratton. The Bolens HT20 with the K532 is even louder (since it basically has a straight pipe!). I also upgraded my microphone, so maybe it picks up the noise better and I believe it has the noise-cancellation feature. Best regards

Is that a ticking sound?

There were many questions in this video about the engine, but nothing that I could identify in person. There are a couple metal buildings around this tractor that created an echo and I think the audio didn‘t get picked up properly, by my cheap video setup back them. Thanks for asking though! Regards Andreas
