A really cool Sway Bar Disconnect made by a guy called RJ in a fabrication shop in the USA. He makes some really nice things for his XJ and hes kindly sent this sway bar locking hub prototype over for me to install and test on my Jeep XJ.
Its a pretty awesome bit of kit that disconnects with an Aisin Hub so it takes just a few seconds to do. This should be a big upgrade for my XJ given that I transition between main roads, forest roads and dirt tracks on most trips.
Thanks again RJ!

@WorkshoptoWilderness

My experience has been the opposite. I wouldn't run without one on the road with all the gear and family on board. The jeep always felt totally stable when it was connected and for good reason. Its also a legal requirement here along with the extreme winters where your driving on two inches of ice and often snow fall. But hey, these are just my reasons and experiences, you have saved some money not needed them. I cant take mine off or I'm not allowed to drive...

I have 35s and they don't touch the hub. Not even on full lock stuffed into the fender. The kit relocates the swaybar forward.

That's by far the coolest xj sway bar I've seen. I've ran my xj for many years with no sway bar at all and just fancy shocks but with my current overhaul I installed a anti-rock sway bar to try out. I've never wanted a sway bar I've always tuned my alignment and shocks, I got even better shocks this time too they are fox 2.5 reservoir shocks with a high and low speed adjustment custom valved for the specs I gave them. But I see a lot of high end builds running sway bars like the anti-rock and supposedly the anti-rock never needs disconnected you tune it by choosing which hole to put the end links and that changes the leverage or something. I'm also running 37s now and much heavier axles so I thought it might be good to install a sway bar at least to try it. This sway bar looks similar to the anti-rock but is able to be disconnected and looks much more sturdy, I think this is an awesome idea. I may have to look into one of these if I end up liking having a sway bar although I'm not sure how it would fit because I've done a lot of modifications and no longer can use the stock sway bar mount locations but it should be easy enough to make fit. This is a brilliant idea, I do think the torsion bar style sway bar like this is a superior design you can even replace the bar with a different one to change spring rate.

Hey Forrest, how are you doing mate? Hope all is well. Still meaning to reply to your email but I just got so tied up with life and work I forgot. I apologise for that. Winter is settling in here soon and come February, March and April the snow will be too high to drive anywhere so I will retire the jeep to the workshop and build up that np231. I have an email for this guy if you would like to contact him, I will put it in the description. That swaybar you have is meant to be pretty dam good from memory so I'm sure it will serve you well. Perhaps when RJ has produced his final design then it maybe an option.

@@WorkshoptoWilderness hey I'm doing ok I've been really beat down lately with some negative stuff but I'm trying to keep my head up and my wife and everything is all good I've been trying to work on the jeep and keep my head up I guess maybe I'm too sensitive of a person or something I just get very anxious and it's hard to do stuff sometimes and it's been tough lately but everything at home is good and that's what matters. Seems like a proper product. It's like if the Antirock & SwayLoc had a bastard child this would be the offspring. Now what would put it over the top is a dual rate version. Personally not a body roll fan.
@WorkshoptoWilderness
@WorkshoptoWilderness Жыл бұрын
Seems well made and its nice that it's made in the USA. When you say your not at fan of body roll, do you mean when the jeep leans over? My rear end is really stiff and the spring rate is clearly higher than the front causing it to lean a lot.
