I was thinking about something like that for my Bronco II. The plastic flares are over $800 so you definitely helped make my decision to make mine myself.

Great video and this was flashback to your old bushcraft channel that I also loved. Wondered how you powered that heater all night with engine off, what power station do you use? Great to get a little insight into the setup. Keep up the good work Mike.

I just found your channel and I enjoy the level of detail you go into. I'm thinking of doing something similar with the interior floor. If I understand correctly, you have Raptor liner, then SilentCoat, and then around the floor pans you also have some kind of closed cell foam? The one that was tearing. On the jeep forums a common complaint after removing carpet is how hot the trans tunnel gets. Has this setup worked well for you or would you do something different now? Thanks
@WorkshoptoWilderness2 күн бұрын
That's right, its Raptor then Silent Coat and then foam in the areas that aren't on the floor. The trans tunnel doesn't get hot anymore with the silent coat and the foam. I also used a kind of fabric felt stuff over it also and that's eliminated all the heat. The setup works well, its easy to maintain when water gets in and its not so loud that you cant talk to people in the vehicle. Thanks for checking out the channel!

G’day from Oz… thanks for your video 👍. Here’s a story about creepy, horror videos for you… in 2011 a few of us were doing a trip on the Canning Stock Route in Western Australia. Before we commenced the trip we camped at Wolf Creek Crater and one of the group had brought along the epic Oz horror movie “Wolf Creek” for us to watch there. You actually had to drive past Mick’s shed to get to our campsite…not too many of us had a restful night’s sleep that night.

Your fatwood reminded me of my first "campouts". It was around 1952, when I was 9 or so. We would camp in the yard behind the house on our dairy farm. Like all of South Alabama, it was once pine forest. The forest was long gone, but we could walk around the pastures for an hour and gather a couple of gallons of pine knots (we called them lightard knots, short for light wood knots). That was our fire for the night. We cooked a pound of bacon and fried potatoes in the bacon grease (bigfoot probably smelled it for a mile). That with a bottle of ketchup and we felt well fed. Still camping 72 years later, but eating better.

Thanks for bringing us along on this trip, Mike. Love the incorporation of some bushcraft skills--no apologies necessary. Interject more in the future if you are so inclined! I continue to be impressed with your camera work. I can't imagine how much additional effort is required to bring us such great images (from different camera angles) while still attending to necessary camp chores. You are the best!

I spent a lot of time finding a solid product for undercoating and general rust prevention and right now I am spraying with Fluidfilm, what a great product in so many ways. I buy it in Sweden from Umeå offroad, also a great company. My only regret, I wish I would have done this three years ago!
