I heard auctioneers when I was a child and was intrigued. It's rhythmic, almost hypnotic, and I was equally impressed with the buyers. How did they understand the chant? Business was going on and I had no concept of how it worked. But they did. :) It's an art.

The very same for me! I used to go with my dad to the cattle auctions, I absolutely loved it... he was a musician also, and there was a certain musicality to the auctioneer calls. 🥰

I wish there was more ppl like u i live in north tx my ranch had150 head had to sell everything in the 4 year drought the only thing was left was about 19 Head and now we're out of it and I've almost got 100 I work cattle next week so I will get a good count an ship I hope 150-200

It sounds very similar to the Australian style. What gets me is the fact that out of a large crowd, the auctioneer can say "Sold to (whoever)" without missing a beat, and get the buyer's name right every time. Probably the same happens in America too.

It's open to anyone outside of America and this type of calling can be found in other countries. A few Canadians have tried to compete but that's the only other country I know of.
