I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn last summer and I can honestly say that he's almost exactly the same in person as he is on camera. One of the most genuine performers/people I've ever met. He's actually very good at sleight of hand card magic, and had the camera been setup up differently, I can assure you, he would not have flashed.
@gapjunction118 жыл бұрын
Maybe some of his moves are visible, but he's such an adorable guy who seems to be still amazed about magic and what he is able to do to other people's minds. Plus he's a world champion. So as long as you're not as good as him - stop complaining.

Magic tricks are made to be seen at normal speed, one time, without pausing or repeat over and over again... That´s why I hate magic tricks comment section on KZbin... one guy sees the video 20 times in slow motion, finds a part of the trick and thinks he is the boss and the Magician should do it better... really? Really, I think some people truly believe they can make cards fly! It´s an ilusion, see it one or 2 times, do not try to see it in slow motion it´s not meant to do that
@xTrolisticism6 жыл бұрын
you maybe can say that but my eyes can tell the future(lie) no seriously i know how he make that trick in normal speed

For those wondering how he did the second trick: After he got the signed card back, he inserted the card back to the deck. However, he actually did a marlo tilt where he placed the card right below the top card. He then did a double lift (lifted the top 2 cards, thus showing the card from the 2nd top) and said that the card was back on the top. Afterwards, he placed the top card on the table, which means that Judith's card is now actually on top. As Judith holds the deck, he rubs the card that was originally on top on Judith's hand and so pulled out the top card from the deck pressed in between Judith's hand. As for how he made the deck to a glass, it's actually very sneaky. You can see on 2:21, while Judith is signing the card, that he unnaturally moves his left hand into his pocket area. At this point, he switched the entire deck with a glass deck with only the top card being an actual card.

@musicoldies838 жыл бұрын
Okay, the one illustration which involves the girl writing on the card is nothing more than trick photography. Note the series of split screens that follow, both horizontally (1) & vertically (2) - from 2:41 to 2:47 - which obviously indicate severances or breaks in continuity involving the two individuals performing the trick (yes, they're both in on it). These split images point to the fact that two sets of cards are being used in two totally different action settings, and made to seem like it's all just one continuous uninterrupted imagery if you're not closely paying attention to it.

The one where he takes the card out of the deck at 1:04, It´s not the same cards as he picked at the start he just told us that the cards he picked was the three of hearts and 2 of clubs but it was actually the 2 of hearts and the 3 of clubs. He just placed the 3 of hearts and 2 of clubs at the top and bottom and when he throws the cards to from one hand to the other he just holds on the top and bottom card so that it looks like he´s "pulling" the out of the deck. You can find a tutorial on this trick at Chris Ramseys channel.

That signed card/plastic block trick is easy to understand but I'm just wondering how he's able to switch between the deck of cards and the plastic block so fast and smooth without making (too much) noise. I'd almost think there's a guy sitting under that table grabbing the deck and putting the plastic block in his hands since his arm barely moves lol, or just very wide and organized pockets. Not something you can do everywhere without some kind of cover...

+BandiPat I'm not a magician, but I can guess how he did it. When she was asked to pick a card from the deck, you can see at 2:16 that he forced the card on her. At 2:20 he uses a bit of misdirection: while he hands her the pen, he reaches to his pocket to dispose of the deck and grab the plexiglas, but keeps two cards (10 of hearts on top) and puts them on top of the plexiglas. When he does his first smaller trick at 2:26, he's not placing her card into a deck, but instead has bent only the top card up slightly to give the illusion that he's placing it into a deck and slides her card in-between the two cards. Then at 2:29, he grabs the two top cards and reveals her card so it appears her card is on top of the deck; however, this is simply misdirection so he can slip his hand under the table to dispose of the second card. After that, the trick is pretty much done; he tosses the top card onto the table which happens to be the 10 of hearts, and the only card on the plexiglas after that is her card. The 10 of hearts was always on the top of the deck, and her card was always the next card underneath the 10 of hearts. I may have missed a few details, but it seems like that's the gist of what he's doing.

I just showed that two card trick to my five year old. However, I have the spectator select two cards and cut the deck for them to place in the middle. Then I switch the top and bottom so now one card is on the top of the deck and the other is on the bottom. You have to make sure they don't pay too much attention during the move. Then you can either shuffle while maintaining the top and bottom positions or simply pull segments out of the middle and switch them around. Forgot where I learned it but I think it was in a magic book years ago.

Okay here is how it's done, first he does a Marlo tilt to get the chosen card to the second position then when he double lifts the card to reveal the signed card, he quickly goes under the table and swaps the deck for the glass. Then he quickly puts both the cards back on the glass. Then he takes the top card which is a random card out which leaves the signed card and the glass deck there. Then he puts her in her palm. Then he waves the random card over and shows it then puts his hand there and pulls out the top card which is the only card and shows that it's the signed card which leaves you with only the glass deck left. Easy peasy

+Virgil from hell Push the pen against your ear, it will then go just into a palm position in your hand, quickly go to your mouth and bite down on the pen, pretending like it came from your ear.
