Absolutely nostalgic moments. I was in Class 10. We became excited about the match as well as the festival of Holi. On that day of the final match, we had an invitation at my school mate's elder sister's wedding where we celebrate the victory with my friends.

India won this match in the fluke, same as 1983 World Cup. West Indies were too strong, whom India did not face in the 1985 Mini World Cup. Pakistan defeated West Indies; who were the most recognized real World Champions. Pakistan defeated West Indies by chasing which was absolutely rare when West Indies was at its peak under Clive Loyed. Another luck India had was; Akram missed this Final due to finger injury - Akram single handedly demolished Australia on their backyard in the previous game before the Semi Final against the mighty West Indies. India became a formidable ODI side in 2004 under John Wright, prior to that India was not considered a formidable ODI side regardless of their victories in the 1983 World Cup and 1985 Mini World Cup.

In Sharjah, Pakistan used to win so many matches against India, but with their formidable side of 13 patriotic players+umpires & their patriotic gallery & their patriotic officials (e.g. Asif Iqbal); not in fluke. Said that, even keeping in mind the last ball of Australasia Cup Final 1986.

Still remember this match when i was around 13(40 years back) srrrkanth and shasthri great knocks Anil dal path (indian origin )droping 2 catches one of Imran and Azharudeens small innings of 25 bowled by Thaheer nakash. All events just happened like yesterday. This is one of the fine event i have seen early of my child hood days.

Imran got two lives in his 35 , he was caught behind then a plumb . He decided not to walk & cheated & with that much respect from umpire he just made 35 & team total 176 😅, Miandad was caught behind as well & umpire let it go then he made just 48 😅

Just like Miandad was in the 1992 World cup final and he admitted it after to the bowler Derek Pringle. Pakistan would have been 25-3 but Miandad went on to make a big score and it changed the game - And, the umpires were neutral, unfortunately they were also crap.

Kris Srikanth, top scorer in the World Cup finals and world championship final. He was like Sehwag. Both able to play important knocks when everyone else struggles to play because of their daredevil approach. But in terms of consistency, both got criticized heavily and hence were not considered the premium batter in the team in their time.

Now a days,boundary sizes are reduced,no balls,wife balls,field restrictions all in favour of batters and reducing bowlers to sacrificial lamps. I look forward to those golden years where fast bowlers bowled with their tails up. Undoubtedly,the best batsman against pace bowling was Sunil gavaskar

It is not correct. India bt Pak at the very first match, that too convincingly. India won all the remaining games including the final again beating Pak a second time very convincingly. All games India won comfortably. Akram was nothing in those days and India had eaten him in the first game. Winning 2 big events viz 1 the WC.83 and the other this one cannot b a fluke. To prove it India again bt Pak at Sharjah in a very low scoring match. In fact Pak went flat all out for 87. Kudos to India

pakistan was the real fluke during tis time. They won 92 due to luck. If not for DLS method, they'd have faced mighty SA in finals and an outright loss. Even against India pakistan lost every single WC match. So your biased thoughts can be put to rest.

"Akram was nothing in those days" FYI Akram made his Test debut in Zealand in Auckland January 1985. Akram was man-of-the-match, he took ten wickets over the two innings, securing his first two five-wicket hauls. 1985 Mini World Cup Pak vs Aus: Wasim Akram 8 Overs 1 Modine 21 Runs 5 Wickets Pakistan has very high standards of fast bowlers an ordinary bowler cannot play test cricket in Pakistan. Shoaib was not able to play for PIA his First class team because Akram and Mohammed Zahid was sharing the new ball.

Between 1983 and 1988, India won the '83 WC, the '85 mini WC, was a runners-up at the '85-86 Australia Tri-Series(first Asian team to do so) and semi-finalists at the '87 WC. To say that these accomplishments were fluke just coz it didn't win much in the bilateral series with pak and the West Indies is sheer stupidity.

After India's 1983 WC win India could not gain recognition as the World Champion - West Indies remains the most recognized World Champion i.e. Indian victories were fluke both in 1983 and in 1985. India could not handle the onslaught of West Indies in the Indian home series of 1983-84. India was the winner of 1983 WC and 1985 Mini WC yet in 1987 Pakistan defeated India 6 nil in ODI and the Test series defeat on the Indian home soil i.e. Which NOT fluke are you talking about? India became a more competitive side in 2004 under John Right prior to the John Right era countries won't take India seriously i.e. They will beat India regularly. One needs to be clear that Non-Vegetarians will not always lose regardless of their physical weakness.
