@@Johnnyvtg Do you think either player will ever be right again? I mean the chances each has taken, the mental toll (Ian's second shot while Ding's play has been less than accurate), added to the uncertainty of ever returning to the Championship Board, has got to damage each of the players. I mean that once the confidence goes, (Fabi), you can still be a contender, but more likely a pretender. And then there is Magnus, so whichever player wins, there will always be an underlying question.

Yes. The moment Ian realized (and the 20 or some minutes that followed) was a gutwrenching, heartbreaking coronation to what already was an incredible game.

This was also the very first Chess world championship match that I followed live. It was exciting and really fun to see live! A completely different feel than watching these recaps of just the game, because the camera on the players gives it a whole different feeling. Watching them mentally break down. BUT I was also really hyped for the GothamChess recap because so many crazy things happened in this game. I kept thinking: What would Levy think about this? (If you read all this, thank you, you are beautiful)

Absolutely loving this WC. I feel like this is what this match should be like always. Perfectly played games that end in draws gets really old really quick. Games where GMs get pushed to the end of their ropes and start making massive blunders with decisive victories going both ways? That's how you get people to watch and care about the match. Nothing against Ian but I'm onboard the Ding hype train. Dude plays some wild games of chess that are just fun to watch.

Ding did absolutely what he needed to do. Nepomniatchchi wanted to draw this game - and playing conventional stuff would put him in confort zone. If game 12 ended in a draw, he would've just needed to secure a draw in game 13 to be crowned world champion. So Ding came and did a completely chaotic non sensical opening. He played, a bit like Magnus, aggressive moves that weren't ideal, that often put him in a disadvantage. But those moves made Nepomniatchchi completely stuck : he had to find only one move in a lot of positions - every other moves were losing right on the spot. He often found them as they weren't complicated, but you only need one miss, one moment where you miscalculated a sequence of moves, and this changes everything. I'm certain Rapport helped Ding with the mindset he needed for game12, and that payed off. He tried everything and was rewarded ! Now, the entire World Championship will be decided on only two games : Nepomniatchchi with white on game 1, Ding with white on game 2. This is sensational, what a crazy world championship we're witnessing

To be fair, a draw today and a draw tomorrow would have left Nepo on 7 points, not 7.5. So he would have still needed a draw or better in game 14 to win. If Nepo would have won today, he'd only need a draw in game 13.

Having Rapport as second is the best thing Ding could ask for, the man's creativity combined with Ding's accuracy and brilliant moments in middle game is unbeatable

I was watching this live and everyone's reactions were so fun to watch lol The commentators were so surprised because they themselves had already looked at the line beforehand and dismissed it as losing right away so they couldn't believe Ian had played it. The chat went wild because they saw the eval bar sky rocket. Ding looked at Ian like, what are you thinking? Ian was so devastated and angry at himself. So sad even though I was cheering for Ding :/

@CNFrostXY
@CNFrostXY Жыл бұрын
@@Icannottolerateit 'Smoke'? Carlsen actually had a pretty difficult time against Nepo at the last championship until Nepo started to blunder after game 6. At this level it's all about willpower rather than actual ability to calculate. It's not actually that complicated to compute chess moves, everyone can see the best moves when they're not playing. Since Carlsen isn't motivated, even if he were to play at this match he'd just loose since he has no motivation.
@JackHarb89
@JackHarb89 Жыл бұрын
@@CNFrostXY If he would play, he would prepare. So he would not lose. There is still not a single chess expert in the world assuming they are stronger than Magnus. He just stepped down because he does not want to prep after 10 years of prep. He would have smoked Ian again, everyone knows it. You can actually see the mental weakness of Ian in all the games. Having so many decisive games means they struggle hard, making mistakes. So if you really believe Magnus would lose against this blunder fest called WC, then you have not a single clue about chess xD The only reason why it is entertaining to watch, is because they are making so many mistakes, resulting in decisive games.
